OK, I came back again....

Sorry Mango, but I had to sneak back into town again, but no body knew it. boy this sequestering is rougher than I thought. I forgot of all the obligatioins I have so I hope it was ok. Thank goodness for time travel.

Of course I came back for Valentines, you know that.....cause I wanted to take My Charlotte to the dance, but I also got to spend a little time at the kennel working. ON Valentines Day we had TWO great things to celebrate.

That sweet James Dean brought me and My Vickie a really cool Valentines present and a fun card. The picture on the card looked alot like James Dean, so we took one of our own with the real James Dean "In Flight"

2nd, it was Goose's BIRTHDAY. 12 years old. WOW I never knew he was 12. ANyways his human brought treats and between the treats that James Dean brought and the ones Goose's human brought. Well it was a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for all of us here at the kennel

Also on Tuesday and WEdnesday, I get to go to the HOspital and meet with the patients. On Tuesday My Vickie and I go with Whitney....(You remember her) and on Wednesday as of this week, we get to go with Goose's human Pastor Michelle.

I was so excited about her coming with us, that I didn't even complain when she did the finishing touches on my grooming.

After our visits Pastor Michelle and I went out and she threw the ball for me. I mean that human can really throw good.

We had a great time.

Of course right after this I headed back to Montana where we are in our secret location where I will have to stay put until Sunday.

I am excited to sit down with My Vickie and choose the best in show. the contestants are wonderful and it is going to be a really really hard decison to make. Wish me luck, Please.

Valentines Day with MY Girl

SHE IS HERE

Thats right, My Girl Charlotte is here. Right here in my little ole town of Ogden Utah. I am so excited.

When we picked her up at the airport, I took her out to my favorite spots imediatly. (Sorry Murphy and Goose, but this is a day just for my Girl)

We walked around the lake and stopped here and there to enjoy the view.

I tooke her to our favorite jumping log......and look at her......she jumps like no other dog I ever seen. Isn't she beautiful when she is in the air.

Then we went down to the river for a swim, but she didn't really want to swim and me, well I had just gotten groomed for the dance so I didn't really want to get too wet either. So we just looked.

Then I took her and showed her my Heart Tree. See it is just a tree on the water but when the reflection comes out and you look sideways, it is a heart. I love that place.

Then we were off to the dance. And guess who the first couple we saw there was? Yep, here I thought Jed and Tank had taken care of the problem cause I haven't seen him for a week, but there he was.

And Nellie was with him. All cozy and lovey. Nellie have you lost your mind?

It was almost sickening. He is so slick and smooth and there she was, just takin it all in. Man......Nellie girl....Nellie Nellie Nellie And Check out the Valentines day card she sent him.

As Goose would say...."Really Nellie...Really"

Well after I got over the first shock of it, My Girl Charlotte and I danced the night away.

Of course I had my two body guards there and we pretty much had to be by ourselves all night cause, well you know, I am the Judge of the Mango Minster Best In Show and I am not supposed to talk to anyone. That part was kinda sad cause I watched all the rest of you havin fun.

But it is ok cause I had My Charlotte with me.

Oh Yeah and my Two Big Rough and Tough Body Guards, Forrest and Gump.

So I am off to enjoy the rest of my evening with Charlotte but dont' forget it is "Pillar of Strength" day for K, R, KB and Runner too. Happy Valentines to all and a HUGE Happy Birthday to my Buddy Goose

By now, I guess K and KB have realized that February 14th 2012 is a special day. Not the Valentines part of it but the part where everyone sends their love and support to an amazing family.

Rompin and Rollin in the Rockies have been a daily fix for us. The adventures, the photos, the animals, the attitude of gratitude.

I am not sure who started the movement, but everyone is on the band wagon. Why? You ask. Because of what K and KB stand for.

As we all travel through the mountains and valleys of thier struggle, we all grow in our hearts and spirits. Many have taken the path they walk now, many will soon take that path, all of us will learn "Strength" from them.

Because of that I have had to seek out some professionals but My Vickie says I can only have Two. These guys don't come cheap.

I had to sneak back for 24 hours

I hope I am not in too much trouble with the Mango Minster panel, but I had to slip back into town for 24 hours cause I had some obligations I needed to take care of.

Murphy and I got to go to an after school program on Friday and teach the kids about "How to stay Safe" in the woods if you ever get lost.

Since I retired from active service, I haven't been able to do this much so it was great fun to spend the time with the kids again.

And since Saturday is our regular day to meet with friends and go walking, My Vickie decided I could stick around for that before we headed back to ___________ for sequestration.

Report from Jake and another clue

Today me and My Vickie went to the coolest place ever. It was a place the call a "Ghost Village". It was so cool. The trees were so covered with snow that you couldn't see any green at all. In some places it looked like a village of people and in other places like the picture below, they looked like dinosaurs and aliens. It was soooo great.

Later in the day we followed a river down the canyon and I wanted to jump in so bad. But my Vickie said "NO" I mean, she was serious about it too. But she did promise me she would take a picture and put me in it so you could see what it would have looked like if I had gotten to jump in. Man that would have been so cool.

Tonight we are just hangin in the cabin, looking out on the Big Lake. I am lovin all this time with My Vickie.

So here is today's info on my location.
First, I see that Allred already told you I was in the North Western part of the states. He is such a tattle tale. And when we checked the computer we see that he has been causing a lot of trouble. Let me apologize, right here and now to Tank, Sam and Frankie. I can't believe he threatened to use his witch craft on you.

Second here are all the guesses so far.....(I tell you this so you won't have to guess them again, cause they are wrong).....Michigan, The Upper Peninsula, Lake Superior, Vermont, Wisconsin, Ohio, Finger Lakes in NY, Minnesota, Mackinac Island Michigan.

Third Hint. The state name Starts with an M. oh, and what we call Big Lakes out here in the West, are probably smaller than what you call Big Lakes in the East. But it is a Big Lake(s)

So now and update on Jake and his new Home in New Mexico. I got this note from him and I have to conclude that Allred has visited and given his kitty some hints on how to live with him.

Dear Aunt Vickie,

I just wanted to let you know that it was a VERRRRRRRRY long ride to my new home, but I slept a lot, so it went by faster. My new home has a pretty big back yard, I spent several hours just exploring in the dark. Wow did you know that I can almost vault a 6 ft fence if I crawl up on the woodpile??

Yea, dad says he is gonna move that away from the fence, what is he thinking? As you can see from the first picture I have already solved the dilemma of me getting in and out. (Picture that is missing is of Jake going through the small doggy door. really small) It's kinda a tight squeeze but I was determined. And as the saying goes, what Jake wants Jake gets!!! Just a bit of play on words there.

That was all before we went to bed last night. I slept soooooo good on a very soft pillow.

Well, today was a whole different day!!!!, why didn't you tell me the cat that lived here trained your cat!!!! I was just trying to play with him as he went from one room to another,( I'm not allowed in those rooms by the way) and he doesn't play nice at all. Pics below showed what he did to me and he doesn't even care!!!!!

Another Hint on my location and Whats Happenin at Home

boy, you guys had some good guesses as to where I am sequestered. They Were:

No Winners Yet So here are Two Hints

Also, as you can see, Me and My Vickie are having a great time. Today we made a huge snowman out of the snow on the porch. Hiked along the (Hint Hint) big lake(s) just across from the cabin, and had baked beans and canned spam for dinner. (YUCK)

Back at home, My Buddy James Dean had to say goodbye to a good friend. You might remember Jake the red bone hound that was found wandering west of town, all starved and bony. Well, James Dean and his loving family fostered Jake until a new home was found.

My Vickies bestest friend from way back when, drove all the way up from Farmington New Mexico to Ogden Utah to pick up Jake and take him home. Now My Vickie says a dog can do no better, than to live with Laurel and Jay so she was very excited when they called her and said they would love to adopt him.

Today James Dean and Jake said their final goodbyes. It was a good farewell, not a sad one, cause Jake is getting a second chance at life....

There was only one little tiny glitch in the whole thing and that was Chico.....Chico is not 100% sure he wants Jake to move in with them.

But, I hear, after a seven hour drive home, where they both had to share the back seat of the car, Chico finally made peace with the idea that a big eared, drooling hound dog was moving in and there wasn't much he could do about it.

I missed the chance to play with our visitors this week cause I am Sequestered, but they sent us some pictures to share. This is Mayzie. She is really tiny but a lot of fun, or so Scrappy says...

Below is Annie, she is kinda quiet and sleeps a lot.

And John was able to get some cool bird pictures. Like our white robin. She and her bird hubby have been living near us for about three years. It is always a treat to see them.

And he also met up with a very beautiful bald eagle. They come here during the winter and catch fish west of us, then fly up into the mountains to the east of us to spend the night. We don't often get the chance to see them just a hangin out.

And finally, just a little reminder to my sweet Charlotte, that We are still going to the dance.....even though I am being sequestered. My Vickie has worked something special so I can still be a judge in Mango Minster.

Sequestered and a Valentine From My Charlotte

That time has come....Yep.....I Judge Bert must go into sequestration.

I am very excited because My Vickie says we are going (yes, her and me) are going to a secret location. I can't tell you where, but you can try and guess.

I'll give you hints as time goes by.

I guess I have to be sequestered so no one will be able to entice me to vote for them as I am the Judge of "Best In Show" of the Mango Minster 2012

So, we were packing our gear on Saturday and getting things ready at the kennel. My Vickie and I went out to check on the mail and I knew immediately.....There was a package for ME.

Inside the package was this card.....

I knew before I even opened the package and read the card that it was from My Charlotte. I could smell her special scent all over the package.

All the way from Austria......a Valentines card and gift for me. I can't believe she thought of this. It just makes me grin from ear to ear.

It took me a bit to open the present inside the package. I had to be careful cause I didn't want to ruin it.

Finally there it was. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLLAR With the Most Beautiful message sewn into it.

Charlotte Loves Me. And she loves me so much she put it in print on the best looking collar ever made.

I AM LOOKIN GOOD, I am feelin good. Just knowing she loves me will make being sequestered so much easier.

Dear Charlotte, I can't thank you enough. I will see you for the Valentines Dance, no matter what. My Vickie promised she had a way to get me there and not break the sequestering rules, all at the same time.

So we finally made it to the place where I am going to spend my sequestration. (Is that the right way to say it?) Can you guess where we are?

I doubt it.....But maybe in the next few posts, you will be able to narrow down the area. If anyone guesses, My Vickie says she will send you a $20.00 gift card to PetSmart.

That's worth a guess. Anyway I'll give you more picture hints in the future.

The Pee Problem Solved

Well, My Vickie is a little unhappy cause the computer was fried (thank you Allred) and there is only a very slight chance they will be able to save all her files from the business. Can you say....BACKUP....

But the new computer is here and set up and WE ARE BACK.... Did you know we were gone? Not really gone, but that 10 year old lap top from the search and rescue dog group was pretty hard to work with.

Our Humans took us out for a walk today and got in a competitive mood. Michelle of Gospel of Goose and My Vickie.

It was bitter cold and the wind was making it colder. But the scenery was beautiful. So here is the deal.....They want you to vote on who took the best pictures.

Sadly the time has come for Me and My Sweet Charlotte to part ways. At least until the Valentines Dance. I have had a wonderful time in Austria but My Vickie says I have to come home now.

Soon I will be leaving again as I must be Sequestered during the judging of the Mango Minster. I cannot tell where I am going because there is some concern that some contestants might try to sway my decision on "Best Of Show" But I will be able to send you pictures of my seclusion. Yeah....(What did I get myself into)

As I sit on the plane all alone, heading home, I hear the song "Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte" "I'll see you in my dreams" softly playing in my head.

I am also dreaming of Home. Oh it will be good to be home. I bet if I was home I would be doing another walk with my buddies.

I bet we would be climbing up the top of the bird tower and walking by the river, maybe even swimming.

Gigi and Annie would be there blending into the snow covered hills with their lovely white coats.

And more of my buddies would be there too. If I were home. (Click your heels together Dorothy......I wanna go home)

Birthdays, Snow, FenceJumping, Boondocks. A great Friday

So Charlotte and I got to spend another great day together in the lovely city of Graz in Austria. This evening we took a walk out to the water to watch the sunset. It was Beautiful.

While we watched the sun go down, I told her what kind of day I usually have when I am back in Utah.

I told her about my friend Murphy, and how cool he looks when he jumps.

I told her that on a day like today, me and my friends, Annie, Goose, Trigger, and Murphy would go to a fun place where we like to see how high we can jump.

And I told her how me and my friends like to play tug-of-war.

I told her that if I was home, I would have been able to howl "Happy Birthday" to my Vickie. Luckily her friends and family did that for me.

How My Vickie would have gotton some cool cool presents, like a Moose Toilet Seat from her Favorite Aunt......Yep, they really make them.

And Moose Bath Towel Sets.....

And how there is a big place where everyone in our area goes to play games as a family that is named after our friend Boondocks.

And finally I told her how tired I would be at the end of a day like this and how much I love My Bed......

And then Like a gentleman, I took My Charlotte home and I went out to the big tree by her house and slept under the stars......and dreamed about Home.

You gotta understand. WE were SOOOO close. I just had to take things into my own paws.

Now Mango, I am sorry about the plane and I sure hope you can fix it. (See Mango Minster for "The Rest of the Story".)

But Austria was there. right within reach......Charlotte......I mean, come on..... what would you do?

When I landed, (sort of landed) the plane, I wasn't sure where to go. The other question nagging at the back of my mind was.....Where was Allred?

But fate was with me because My Charlotte found me.........

We then enjoyed a day of sight seeing. She is a great tour guide.... You can see where we went on Mango Minster Post for today during which you will notice that a few of my friends accompanied us on our adventure.

But finally during the meal, my friends took off and left Charlotte and I some time to spend together. Just the two of us. It was quite romantic.

Later in the evening we took a stroll along the banks of the river and got to know each other a bet better.

Sometimes Michelle (Goose's Mom) comes over and helps us out. I like it cause she always finds time for me.

And now for the Saturday fun, me, Murphy and Goose enjoyed. IT was one of those crazy human games where people break through the ice then run and jump in.

This is my Forever Friend Erin. She was doing the jumping today in order to get money so she can complete some of her school studies in Spain. Is that close to Austria.....?

Now to me, this looks great...I mean GREAT...but to My Vickie, Paulette and Michelle, it was cold, wet and sloshy.

And She did it.....Erin earned $800.00 for jumping in this friged water.....Now she can go to Spain.

I got to pose with some of the kids. They were dressed pretty funny.

Erin was freezing after her leap into the cold waters. did you see how they have to go out on top of the lake about 40 feet, walking on ice, just to get to the point where they broke thru the ice to jump in.

CRAZY

My Buddy Murhpy sent me this picture after he got home. He was exhausted and maybe a little sick to his stomach. See while we were waiting for Erin to jump in the water, a small mole or mouse came running by Murphy. He was so shocked by it, yet even through his surprise at the little critter running between his feet, he was still fast enough to reach down and grab it, then swallow it whole.....

It all happened so quickly that he didn't really know he had swallowed the little critter until after Paulette made a scene trying to pull it out of his mouth.

It was pretty funny to watch, but we still feel bad for the little critter.

So I am still on this plane with all the judges and contestants from the Mango Minster 2012. This should be so much fun but I am still locked in the bathroom.

Allred is still parked outside, just waiting to torment me.

So I have been day dreaming of what Me and My Vickie would be doing if I were down there on the earth with her, instead of up here, not safely secured in the bathroom.

If I were home, My Vickie and I would have found a cool new place to walk like out on Willard Bay. I can just imagine that the lake is frozen and the mountains are covered with snow.

There would be puddles of water that would show my reflection when I sat by them and FRESH goose poop to roll in.

Droplets of rain falling in the puddles of my reflections.

WE would explore the wonderful open countryside and save it in our walking guide book so we could bring back my buddies Murphy, Goose, Annie, Baci, Logan, Tye, Tucker and all the rest.

I like this day dream....It seems so real.

I wonder if Allred has gone to sleep yet. I'm Hungry.

JUST ONE FINAL NOTE. Even from up here in the sky, in this huge plane, flying above the earth, I am still having trouble leaving messages on a whole lot of blogs. Anybody know whats happening?

I am sure most of you have already met Nellie of Cat From Hell. Now I must tell you that I love Nellie, I do, but a short while ago she did something that really concerns me about her loyalty to me and our friendship.

If you look in the picture below, it might appear that I am hiding. And actually I am. I am hiding from Demon Cat Allred who now thinks he is the all powerful CAT FROM HELL.

Why do you ask, does he think this?

Well, apparently Nellie has given him the dubious honor of joining her cult of "Cats From Hell" Thus empowering him to be more evil than ever before.

Still, when I am not around "Devil Cat" I can be myself. So whenever I get the chance I stand tall and enjoy my little world.

Today Becky came over with Oakley and their new pup Lucy (I think that was her name) and we played for an hour. "Allred" had gone hunting so we all were at ease.

Zoey hung over her shoulder, while James Dean, who just got back from vacation on one side and Lucy on the other. They all got petted and loved for an hour.

WE really missed James Dean and are so happy he is back for day care.

Zoey and Carly played so hard all day that they were exhausted when it was time to go home.

Gigi and Annie wanted to use the window instead of the doggy door.

Abby and Gracie took over the bed.

And I, well I got to go to a new park with ducks and geese and water and snow and trees and fun fun fun.

Today as Bert and I returned from visiting some patients at the hospital, we were privileged to witness our city and police officers from all over the country as they laid to rest a fallen Officer Jared Francom who was shot and killed one week ago.

OK, so I got a twinge of jealousy today when I read a comment on My Buddie Goose's Blog

I mean, I thought he might be makin some moves on my girl Charlotte.

Anyway, I thought I better show My Charlotte some of my Frisbee moves, just to remind her how athletically rugged and handsome I am.

Not only am I ruggedly handsome, but I am like Indiana Jones cause I discovered our very own Loch Ness Monster today. I mean, who knew the Loch Ness would show up in UTAH...and I have photographic proof.

My Vickie loves the early morning hours before the world starts to get going. She headed out and got some pictures from the street of the front of our place

Then through the outdoor play areas. She loves it cause it is so quiet and the snow is untouched, well except for where I have been.

It has been a GREAT Friday here. It has been a day of activity from 5 am to 8 pm. Just Go Go Go.
Come take the ride with me so you can understand why I look so tired.

Our regular Day Care Guests came plus some new friends. This is Carly and I thought you would like her face. I do

Zoey played so much all week that today she was just plain tired most of the day.

Scrappy seemed a little subdued too.

Allred (Devil Cat) was in a particularly bad mood. (Which is, of course, not surprising at all)

Zoey and I played all morning long until we both just couldn't play anymore. Zoey has a tendency to sleep on my head. Yep, she just climbs on my back, chews on my ears for a bit, then falls asleep in mid chew.

Seriously, the girl can sleep in any place or position. But then, so can I

Around 10 am, I got to leave the kennel and meet some of my buds. We played Frisbee for about an hour. Tye is pretty good at Frisbee

But the big surprise to me and My Vickie was how good Annie is.

Look at the moves this girl has......whew.....

I had to put this face of Tye on the post cause, well, cause it is just plain good.

Murphy made some pretty good faces too. He wasn't much for Frisbee but boy he loves to chase the ball.

And of course, our weather is absolutley beautiful right now. (which is really making all of us nervous, cause we miss the snow and cold) but why not take advantage when you can.

Like Swimming......for another hour.

And of course, the group photo at the end as the Front Runner comes by. What a great day.

After all that fun, I got to go and play with a group of girls from My Vickie's mothers church. WE had a lot of fun as I showed them how I do therapy at the hospital and how I found things when I was a search dog. It was cool.

Back home again and the dog walker came and took me for a long one, then dinner and a final clean up and finally bed.....sleep.....rest.....oh boy....

Hi to all my friends. My friend Paige has been diagnosed with SARDS disease. Here is her humans email to My Vickie. Has anyone gone thru this and would you be willing to give us some thoughts on the subject and how you handled it.

Anyway, Paige survived auto immune disease 2 years ago and was doing well. A week or so before Xmas she started bumping into things a little. Then on Xmas day, it was obvious she couldn’t see and was falling off the curb on a walk and running into things in the house. We took her to St. George with us after Xmas (which was always do every 2 weeks) and she did pretty well. The day after Xmas I took her to the vet and he thinks she has SARDS disease (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration) where the retina just stops working. Now we are home and helping Paige map our house so she can get around. She is doing quite well. We put in a doggie door into the house (we always had the doggie door into the garage), put outdoor runners through the garage so she can follow them to the doggie door, and put cinnamon scent on the runners and the doggie doors to help her. She has an appointment tomorrow with a dog eye specialist in Sunset to get a more professional diagnosis.

My question is, do you know of any of your clients or friends dealing with this issue? If so, maybe you could give me some sources or ideas to help us through this. I have gone to the Internet for ideas and it has been very helpful, but I truly don’t know how happy she can be and I guess that’s what makes me so sad. Am I doing her any favors by keeping her going in this condition?

Well it is finally hear. I have heard about it, but wasn't around last year so I have been pateintly waiting for it to come.

Of course I have the best entry in the BAD SPORTS category. I think you can all just save yourself the time of putting together an entry for this one cause Allred, (Devil Cat, Spawn of Satan, Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness) is the clear winner. At least in my eyes.

As I have told many of you in the past, there is no safe place around when Allred is on the war path. And he is always on the War Path.

He will hide behind the doggy door and when I try and come in he will slap me across the nose with his razer like claw.

From his perch high above the rest of us he will attack at will on any curious visitor, slashing away at eyes, ears, heart and throat.

Yep, there you go Mango, my entry in the Mango Minster Contest. Please be careful in the handling of these photos as I beleive he can transport himself through them to any place of his choosing and leave a bloody trail of k-9 body parts in his path.

Check it Out. My Buddy Goose gave me a Frisbee and look how good I am already.

Goose and I took one last play day cause it is Saturday and Pastors and Doggy Day Care Owners NEED a Break Too.

The water was amazing. Cold as can be but also as beautiful as I have ever seen it.

One last frolic in my stream bed ending the year of 2011 with a huge splash

And a fence jumping contest that ended in a tie or is it tye. Whatever it is, we had fun.

So That Is What A Frizbee Is

Before we get down to the "Frisbee" issue, I just wanted to show you the quilt piece that we are gonna send for Sandra at Kissa-bull.
A lovely quilt is being made by Dachsies with Moxie My Vickie is letting us cut out one of the search and rescue shirts she wore when we went on searches. It is from all of us at American Search Dogs.

You should check out Dachsies with Moxie to see how the quilt is coming along. They are doing a wonderful job and every ounce of their work is done in Love.

I was happy to hear from my Sweet Charlotte. She got my Christmas Present. It was a few days late, but I mean, gosh.....Austria is a long ways away from Ogden Utah.

Since I know she loves jewels, I had a special charm made with "Bert Loves Charlotte" engraved in between the diamonds....

Doesn't she look lovely with it on. Isn't she just the most lovely girl ever. I am so lucky.....

And now for the "Frisbee" issue. I have heard of "Frisbee", friends have told me how fun they are, but until today I had yet to see one. Until today, I had no idea what fun I was missing.

I watched as Goose, Ty, Annie and Tucker would run out and catch these amazing things in the air. It looked like such an easy and great way to play. But My Vickie didn't have a Frisbee.

Well I watched for a while, then I took it into my own paws and when Annie's human threw her Frisbee into the air, I took off like lightning, whizzed past Annie (well maybe I knocked her out of the way) and grabbed at the Frisbee.

I take my games very seriously so after the first group chase for a Frisbee, I think they all just figured it would be better to let me go after the Frisbee and not get in my way. (or maybe the face I made when grabbing it, scared them)

Anyway, My Vickie promised to get me my very own Frisbee. I hope she means tomorrow cause that is a great toy. Every dog should have one.

Bucket Head

Another beautiful Day in Ogden Utah. The Dog walker came and took me for a stroll early in the day while My Vickie worked. Then after I got back and My Vickie had another free hour, she called our friend Goose and Michelle and we went for another walk.

Goose's human has been feeling sickly but we decided some fresh air was just what she needed. You know, I think it worked. Me and Goose even got to swim for a bit, but it was pretty cold.

When we got back to the kennel we were greeted by the strangest new creature. It looked like the body of a dog, but had the head like a bucket.

"Hey Vickie, What do you think this is?"

IT was running around the yard in a crazy zig-zag pattern, bumping into fencing and trees, then turning and running the other way.

Eventually we figured out that the funny looking bucket headed dog thing was Max. Yep, Max had found Dougals food container and got his head stuck inside after he went in for the last tasty morsel.

I know we shouldn't have laughed but we did. And I know My Vickie should have taken the bucket off his head the minute she saw it, but she had to get some pictures first. Just to prove it really happened.

I wonder if Max learned a lesson from this.

After the fun picture taking adventure, we went into the house and My Vickie chastised herself the minute we walked through the door.

We had left an hour earlier, forgetting the Squeeze Cheese Larry was here for the holidays. We call him that because he is so big and tall that he can reach anything on top of any cupboard. Because you NEVER leave the garbage can out, food on the counter, or a can of squeeze cheese within reach of the boy.

Obviously he went through the garbage today and spread it throughout the house. Ya gotta love Squeeze Cheese Larry.

Now Honestly, is that the face of a counter surfing, garbage grabbing, food stealing guy? YES.

All the way from Austria from My Love

He He, the joy of my day was this picture. My Vickie figured if Nellie Cat From Hell could pose with a Santa Hat, then she would be darn sure that Allred (Devil Cat) could do it too. The above picture took about half an hour to get and My Vickie has the scratches to prove it, but we all say it was WAY worth it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.....

My Vickie got lots of wonderful gifts from lots of wonderful people this year. She is thankful for each and everyone, but when her Aunt Gwila (the wonderful woman who talked My Vickie into getting me) gave her this original painting on slate of her Jamie, well, she was so overwhelmed that she cried and still cry's every time she looks at it.

We know Little Jamie is not long for this side of the bridge, every day is a blessing. The artist caught Jamie's eyes and soul and spirit perfectly and we cannot thank Aunt Gwila enough for this gift for the ages.

I did pretty good this Christmas too. I got my gift from the Christmas Exchange from sweet Lola, and James Dean gave me stuff and my buddy Murphy and Goose, oh my Goose gave us all a gift here at the kennel. We are going to play with toys forever.

But the most exciting thing for me was when I went to the mail box Saturday and there was a box for me. From Austria. I knew immediately it was from my Sweet Charlotte.

Check it out. I have a Christmas Dog all the way from Austria. It sits on my Charlotte Shelf that My Vickie put up for me. It is right over my bed and I get to look at her picture and her cool present all the time.

It may be just for Christmas time but I think I'll leave it out all year.

So things are going pretty good here and we feel very blessed but we have not forgotten all our friends in blogville who need our prayers too. WE are not going to mention them here but just want them to all know we are thinking of them.

Somethin Personal

Friday, I was out with my friend Erianne takin a walk. We had such a nice time and when our walk was over, instead of taking me home, her dad and her brought me over to Fort Bueneventura, where My Vickie was waiting.

When I came up over the hill to join her, I got so excited cause a ton of my friends were there and we were all going on another walk.

We played by the river, but My Vickie didn't want me to get in so I didnt' get to swim. It was a bummer, cause Logan and Baci both got to swim.

Annie had to be on a leash whenever we were around the water cause she had just been groomed for her Christmas Company. Me and Annie were promised that next week we could swim.....I guess I can wait.

Besides, the water was ICY cold today. But still no snow to speak of.

Here we are all posing so My Vickie can get a picture of us. From left to right, we have my buddy Oakly, then Tucker and Ty, Annie and Murphy in the back with Goose commin up, Me and Belle and behind Belle there is Baci, Logan and my buddy Jake. They are kind of in the shadows.

Back home at the kennel, I had several guests for the Christmas Holiday. Like little Zoey, who my Vickie has been calling Lexy....can you imagine.

And Max stayed for a bit too. He kept trying to take my ball away. But I have a bigger and stronger mouth so I kept taking it back.

My best human friend Whitney came over with Zero and Cliff. Abby kind of took possession of her, but that is ok, cause I get her every Tuesday when we go to the hospital.

And well, of course, it is almost Christmas Day and My Vickie let me open some of my gifts. I am just the most luckiest dog in the world....I had a blanket of cards and a ton of great toys.

I just want to thank everyone for all the Merry Christmas wishes, all the cards and presents and tell you that tomorrow , I am gonna have some pictures of some very special gifts that My Vickie and I got but now I am just gonna go to bed cause I am really worn out.

In our home, we have a beautiful picture called "The Good Shepherd" painted by Nathan Green.

It is a picture that shows a gentle man caring for a small helpless animal. This is the kind of person I would most like to pattern my life after. Loving, thoughtful, tender and compassionate, one who loves all creatures, no matter who or what they are.

Our household loves Jesus Christ and all he stands for and we wish for all of you, the peace that comes with knowing such a man.

The Police and My Vickie

The other day My Vickie and I were just hangin out in the office. Some of my friends started barking so we went to the window to see what was up.

We noticed that in our front drive, there were policemen walking back and forth around our little red pick up. They were leaning down and looking closely at the front and side of the old red truck very suspiciously.

WE watched for a while before My Vickie finally got brave enough to go out and ask them what was up.

So the short story is: Someone driving a truck just like ours had hit a jogger the night before. The truck hit the girl and threw her up onto the front of the truck and then after she fell off, she was run over by the back tires.

She was hurt pretty bad. The driver didn't even stop. It was a Hit and Run...

The truck and driver have yet to be found and the girl is home from the hospital but has a broken leg and some bruising.

It reminded My Vickie of the following experince that I will accompany with this gorgious picture of me in My Vickies Search Hat

Readers Digest Version.

The call out came at 2 am. Thre was a medicine man from the tribe who had been missing for three days and would they fly down and assist in the search. My Vickie grabbed the three day survival pack and off they went. This was when Andy (the collie) was her search partner.

They were out and in the truck 10 minutes after the call came and heading for the airport where the plan was to catch a Civil Air Patrol plane to Arizona.

Andy was sitting tall in the seat beside My Vickie and with the shell on the truck and it being 2 in the morning, he almost appeared to be another human at her side.

Not two blocks from the house, My Vickie became aware of a car that seemed to be following her through the quiet dark streets. She would throw in a few turns to see if she could lose her follower, but they stayed close on her tail.

My Vickie started getting very nervous. She made some more turns down the neighborhoods, turns that made it very clear, She was being followed.

My Vickie says at this point, she was so scared that she didn't dare let them follow her all the way to the little back country airport, for fear that who ever it was would attack her in the parking lot. (She has quite the imagination)

So she decided to drive right to the local police station. The car continuted to follow her all the way into the dark deserted parking lot of the police station. (We are talking about a the little town of Washington Terrace PD....a total of two officers on a good day, let alone at 2:30 in the morning)

In the parking lot, My Vickie looked out her rear view mirror hoping the car following her would keep going, but to her dismay, it pulled in behind her.

Then all of a sudden there were three more cars that all came in blocking any chance of getting out, even if she dared try. She was in big trouble. She was trapped.

She figured they were dead. Some gang initiation or something even more dasterdly was about to happen to her and Andy.

She began to cry......when suddenly big bright lights were shining in on her from all directions. Then over a Loudspeaker she heard a male voice commanding

"Put Your Hands on the Wheel and don't move"

It was the police. They had her surrounded and were coming at her from all sides, with guns drawn.

Looking in the rear view mirror, she saw an officer carefully coming up the side of the car with his pistol aimed at the back of her head.....

Tearfully, she spoke as loudly as she could and said

"Don't shoot, please don't shoot, I'm just a girl"

The officer then stopped and laughingly said....."Hey Vickie, is that you?"

Long story short.....Two armed people in a truck that matched My Vickies truck had robbed an all night store just 15 minutes before My Vickie and Andy had left the house.

There was an all points bulletin to stop and detain anyone driving a vehicle that matches the description.

Luckily My Vickie knew one of the officers and they all had a good laugh and sent her on her way.

Little did they know that it scared her so bad, she broke out in tears every few hours for the next two days while she was on the search.

Roo You Rock

UPS came by our little Kennel this week and brought us the strangest package. Actually it was for me, not Us. Well it was kind of for us, but mostly for ME.   It was about 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep and about a gazillion inches high.

We hurried in the house and opened it up and Guess What? There was a Christmas Tree in it. My Very Own Christmas Tree. and it is live so we can plant it in the spring and I will have my very own Christmas Tree all year round.

My lovely  friend Roo from Roos doins Heard my cries of unfairness cause we don't have a tree and so she SENT ME A CHRISTMAS TREE. The most beautiful tree in all of Blogville too. And at night My Vickie plugs in the beautiful lights and I get to just sit and stare at it for hours.

Everyone at the kennel is jealous so My Vickie brought out Mr Hand-Puppet to distract them from the fact that it is MY TREE and they can't play with it.

Mr. Hand-Puppet is kind of fun. He moves, and talks and grabs your nose. Lexy loves him.

And I think Mr. Hand-Puppet loves her too.

Mr. Goose and I went for a walk Saturday too. I had seen Gooses blog and was making all kinds of fun of him having to wear all those jingle bells. His human went way overboard on the bells this hear. You should check out the silly video on Gooses blog yesterday .

I warned him NOT To bring the bells on the walk cause they make so much noise, and do you know what that goof ball did? He not only brought his bell collar, but he brought one for me to wear.

I was mortified. My Vickie MADE me wear it. But you know, I got to liking that thing. IN fact, I really like it. It sounds so cool as I go running with it.

Once we started the hike, My Vickie took my cool collar off cause she was sure I would get it muddy or wet or something like that. Imagine that....Me getting something dirty or wet.

Me and Goose explored all over in the King Fisher trail area. Goose made jingling sounds as he walked. It was cool hearing it through the brush.

WE found a cool old tree that you can crawl into and sleep if you want. I wonder if some of my two legged friends that live in the area have used this as protection from the elements. It was big enough to sleep in if you wanted.

Goose and I played tug-of-war and frolicked in the river. It was great fun. Goose gets a Little physco with the stick thing though.

I ended the day with a snooze by my Christmas tree and a final prayer for blessings to my new friends that are having such a hard time after a most horrendous loss of loved ones.

The Purpose of this Fund

On December 16, 2011, Sandra Gonzalez suffered a devastating house fire in Houston. While she was thankfully able to escape unharmed with her mother, her son, and two of her dogs, she lost everything else - including 5 furry family members.

Adventure Dogs

Today was great. I mean GREAT. After all my doggy friends got here, My Vickie and I met with Murphy, Goose and their humans and went to the park. WE hiked, we climbed hills, and we SWAM. I know it looks cold, and well, it was, but oh how worth it......

My Vickie says, she cannot believe how many Christmas Cards I have gotten. AND they just keep coming. Thank you Thank you THANK YOU to all of my friends for sending me cards. It is so much fun to go to the mail box every day and get cards from you all.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS

Play was a little wild today. I wasn't very tired after my hike and swim so when we got back, I joined in and played with all my friends. I know Zero looks like he is mad at Lexy, but they are really just having fun.

Doesnt' Zero have the whitest teeth ever?

As you can see Lexy can give back anything that is thrown her way.

During all this, James Dean was fast asleep. My Vickie kept worrying that he would fall off the chair but I guess he is balanced pretty good, cause he didn't even teeter forward. Butt weight, you know....

You may not believe this but this is my tug-of-war face. I am not really mad or anything.

After all the walking and hiking and playing, the dog walker came and I went for yet again another GREAT walk.

Boy, now I am tired. So off to dream land and hello to my dream girl.

Of course I can't go through the season without letting My Vickie get a few pictures of me in my Santa Hat and YES Mango, My nose is really big. I hate to admit it but now that you have brought it to my attention, I can't see anything but my nose.

Last Will and Testiment of a Dog

Interestingly enough, last weekend we found this Last Will and Testiment on a friends blog. At the same time Jake came into our lives. Jake wandered into our friend Jills yard. Hungry, ragged, boney and charming all at once.

We tried to find his home but by the way he looks, there is a huge lack of care going on. So Jill brought him to our place to fatten up and see how he does socially.

My Vickie thinks he is about two years old but we will know more after he goes to the vet for a check up and all his vaccinations. WE will keep you posted.

Icy Cold Beautiful Day

This is some strange weather we are having. Last week our mountains were covered with snow and this week, there is a lot less, but it still is really really cold.

If you look behind me and my pals, you will see that our lake down in the valley is frozen solid, yet our lakes up in the mountains are not. Figure that one out.

Of course, My Vickie made us all sit for pictures before we started our walk. She got one....the first one....but after that, Annie wouldn't look at the camera and Goose showed his displeasure by singing loudly in my ears. Thankfully My Vickie gave up and we started our walk.

We were NOT allowed down to the shores of the lake cause all our humans were afraid we would be dumb enough to go out on the ice. HaHHH....now who would want to get into water that is below freezing and solid as glass.

So we all made the most of it, playing and running through the trails at high speeds, jumping (check out Annie in the picture above) and dodging each other was great fun.

And then...FINALLY....we came to the river. It was not frozen at all. Well a bit around the shore line, but totally safe. Even Murphy and Goose were excited to get to the water.

Of Course Annie and I swam and swam to our hearts delight.

I retrieved this stick and when I brought it out of the water, Murphy decided he should take it from me so we had a rousing game of tug-o-war

Goose and Michelle played jump and grab.

My Vickie went to the edge of the water and found some really cool spots with icicles hanging from the low branches of a tree.

Our friend Caren sent this picture of the hoar frost and ice crystals that were by her creek so we decided to slip it in since it is prettier than our pictures of the ice.

As we were walking out we heard this weird sound like sonar from a boat. It was a special thing these hockey players were using as they played hockey on our lake. It helps them know if they are coming to areas where the ice is too thin to be playing on. apparently, the whole lake is safe cause they were having a ball skating over the whole lake. I was a bit jealous. My Vickie was a bit scared....."Crazy Nuts" she kept saying...."Crazy Nuts"

While we were playing in the valley John hiked up to about 8,000 feet above our city and came across this beautiful Mountain Goat. It is a way tough hike but always worth it. Check out the short video of the momma and babies as they scale the cliffs.

WARNING Frankie Do Not Read

Frankie, let this be a warning....You probably don't want to read this post as it will most likely Give You NIGHTMARES.

But before I get to the Nightmare

My Vickie and I went to the mail box the other day. I get to go every day now cause I, yes Me, am getting a lot of mail. Yeah......I am getting Christmas Cards. Me....Isn't that great.

Poor Vickie, she has only got two Christmas Cards but I have a gazillion. Way more than My Vickie......

Anyway, Today, not only did I get some Christmas Cards but I GOT A PACKAGE. Yep, just for me. Addressed to me. ME.

My Vickie says it is a Christmas Gift and I can't open it until Christmas. Gosh....How far away is Christmas. I feel like I have been already waitning FOREVER.

This much I do know... My dear friend Lola sent it to me so I want to thank Lola and Hilary right now. Even if I have to wait, you shouldnt have to wait to hear THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU from me.

Now for the reason I am sleeping with one eye open. Can you guess? Yep, you got it.....Devil Cat is on the rampage.....He is in a whole different world of nasty lately. And No One Knows Why.

He has even taken control of my One and Only Big Red Ball. He won't even let My Vickie get at it.

Sometimes when he looks at me with this expression, I fear, if I fall asleep, he may just kill and eat me.

Beleive me when I tell you, he wasn't asking to give me a hug.

Bless My Vickie's heart, she just told me that she would protect me while I get a little nap so I am off to dream land for a bit. I am so tired and so in need of a few hours of sleep without fearing for my life.

FYI about this picture. James Dean felt so bad about loosing his friend Cleo last week. He was very worried about Cleo's family and so to help with the healing, he got this cake for them. The saying in front says "Thinking of you" Love, James Dean.

My Vickie says that our job is perfect. WE don't have clients anymore, we just have human and K-9 friends. That is great except when we have them leave us to go to Rainbow Bridge.

Our assignment is to TAKE OVER OUR COUCHES until Pip gets a couch.

All of us at Canine Country Club are taking this very seriously.

We are making sure that the office couch is occupied at all times by at least one of us. Pip, we are here for you.

It is a cool couch cause it makes out into a bed and so while we are occupying, we can even take a nap

Two little ones and one big one (in the back ground) plus two guarding any human from getting to close.

No reason not to take advantage of a human if they are close.....

And we might as well take over the easy chair too.

After the Dirty

Boy was I exhausted after my busy Friday. Swamp play can be very tiring. I came home and slept like a log. I mean, I passed out. My Vickie didn't even wake me to brush my teeth cause she could tell how sleepy I was.

Thank goodness Evil Allred was tired too. He didn't bother me all night.

Next morning My Vickie took me to meet some friends and to let me swim off all the rest of the swamp that was hidden under my coat. It was totally a win win situation.

Goose and Pastor Michelle joined us.

Logan came to join in the fun too.

Of course Annie was all game to swim, but she didn't get to play in the water long because her human didn't want a wet dog to go home with.

And after a bit of play I smelled someone familiar coming up the path so I headed out to see who was there.

Look My Vickie, I found Murphy. Yeah, now it is a perfect day. I love Saturdays.

And tonight I will sleep well again, dreaming of my little Charlotte so far away.

If I Had a single Flower

Yesterday before the big winds came, Gus and Cleo enjoyed a day of fun at Canine Country Club. Gus was his usual crazy self, jumping and running around. Cleo was her usual sweet demure self, maybe a little quieter than normal and maybe a bit wistful. Several times during the day I would catch her sitting tall, looking out towards the mountains.

Cleo has been with me from the first day we opened the new facility. She is our longest daily guest. We love her dearly. Through the years we have taken many pictures of her, sometimes adding little thoughts that portray our human thoughts to her facial expressions.

Gus, who is two years younger is always at her side. They are inseparable. They are best friends.

Today, Gus and Cleo stayed home with their beloved Mark and as the winds picked up, turning from gusts and blasts of cold and bitter power to a hurricane force that toppled beautiful ageless trees, scattered roofs, overturned vehicles, downed fences, and in general destroyed much of our area.

And it was during this time of turmoil Miss Cleo left us and made her way to Rainbow Bridge.

With no warning, no illness, no pain, that we know of, her heart slowed and stopped. Her precious loving spirit fled her body and headed off to meet with Ceaser and her old friends who had gone on before her.

Dear Natalie, Mark and Gus...we are without words to ease your pain. We just want to thank you for letting us share her presence five days a week for the last 11 years.

Allred Speaks UP Again

NOTE: we don't know what is wrong but we have tried to leave comments on many of your blogs but are not allowed. My Vickie thinks it is a personal grudge that google has for her. Anyway, we didn't want you to think we weren't keeping up.

Before I leave the room and let Allred (Devil Cat) take over my blog, I just wanted to let you all know how much I love My Whitney. You may remember, I told you in an earlier post that she is My Vickie's niece.

She has started doing the therapy work with us at the hospital and will soon test with me so she and I can be a team too.

We don't get to talk a lot about who we meet and what we do at the hospital but I can tell you this.

When we went to the hospital this week we were privledge enough to meet a young man who had just had open heart surgery a few hours before we got there. My Whitney immediatly won this young man over. He was nervous and afraid of what was happening to him, but after talking with her he was comforted and he even smiled.

You see, My Whitney has had open heart surgery twice now and she was able to help this young man see that things do get better and that life can be good. And the thing is, she is wonderful with all of the patients. I mean, yes, I am the coolest, but she has a beautiful smile and a tender and understanding heart that makes everyone calm and serene when she comes in the room.

We love that she is working with us.......

At the kennel tonight we are getting ready for a huge storm that is supposed to hit the Wasatch Front. They are warning us about hurrican force winds so today after we got back from the VA home, My Vickie and I went about securing everything we could think of.

While the others played and ran around, enjoying some really nice weather, we went thru the place and found flashlights, candles and other survival stuff. Our Search Gear is a great place to find anything that will be needed.

Tonight is when it is supposed to start, we are already getting warning reports on the TV and radios so all my friends who usually get to run and play until bed time, are all locked into their rooms and secured for the night. We have so many trees here on the property that My Vickie wants to make sure no one is wandering around in case a tree blows down.

So keep your paws crossed, this has really made my vickie a little nervous.

As promised, I am leaving the room so Allred can say something that has been on his mind. I didn't exactly get asked if he could write something, I was sort of TOLD that he WOULD be talking so just to be safe....Off I go.

As Well you should you twirp....Allred here and I just want to say a few things about the way I have been portrayed in the last week or so. First let me say, the little pup did not really get slapped by me......

I was just telling him that there are ways things are done around here and that he should learn quickly what they are. These newbies need to learn the rules and I just don't have the time nor do I have the patience to teach each of them gently. LEARN THE RULES....

They are simple rules. As you can see, Bert has learned one of them.
1. Do NOT come into the kitchen when I am here.
  2. Do NOT get within five feet of me when I am in a bad mood
3. Do NOT bug me.....EVER.....
4. Stay out of my way at all times.
5. Do Not drink water from my personal bowl.
6. If I catch a mouse and bring it in the house....IT IS MY MOUSE.....
       I WILL EAT IT WHEN I WANT, UNTIL THEN, DON'T TOUCH

the mouse rule applys to you too Vickie. I am tired of catching them, bringing them in and hiding them under the couch so I can eat them later and having you always taking them away.   I would think you would have figured it out by now that if you take it away, I am just going to go out and get another one. It is what I do........I KILL THINGS.

You should all remember that.

Finally, for all you blogville friends of Bert who beleive everything he says, check out this picture. That is me and Ellie Mae. Now does that look like a mean and dangerous cat to you. Does that look like the devil sleeping next to the big ole goofy houndog? Seriously....how long are you going to fall for Berts whining little complaints.

We have three new friends that have joined us at the Day Care. Two are the cutest little baby girls you ever did see and the third, well she is a bit more mature but if you stay out of her way, then you could call her sweet too.

I forgot how much little puppies like to sleep. I bet I was just as cute when I was a wee one....

If you go from the young to the old, you find that a lot of napping is what happens when you come to day care.

As great as this all seems, the little ones still havn't met Devil Cat, Satan, Prince of Darkness, Monster, Ogre, Mephistopheles otherwise known as Allred.

No matter how innocent and sweet you look.

No matter how humble, meek and modest one appears.....

You cannot HIDE from HIM

And by all means, don't go lookin for him. EVER

Wiped Out...Done In.....Pooped Out

Well, it is Saturday and after My Vickie and I took care of the other critters here at Canine Country Club, we met up with my buddy Goose from Gospel of Goose and took him to my favorite swimmin hole.

Now Goose isn't much for water and I figured cause it is so cold now, he would probably like it even less today, but it was my goal to show him that Water is Good.

To get to my swimmin hole you get to play in some fields and walk along a real pretty little lake so we let out a little of our energy doing that while My Vickie and Gooses human Michelle, visited and walked along the path.

First think I did when we got to the swimmin hole was show Goose that there was nothing to worry about by jumping right in to the deepest part of it. He was tempted enough that he got his feet wet.

Then before you know it, he was joinin in the fun. Now he never actually got out where the water was deep but he did enjoy getting wet up to his belly.

I would go and get the sticks our humans threw out for us, then me and Goose would carry that heavy old stick back to shore together. He was a lot of help.......

I sure wish he had got out in the deep stuff with me, but I figure it is just a matter of time.

By the time we left to go home, I was FREEZING. You know playing in cold water takes a lot out of a guy. I came home and slept all afternoon while My Vickie did errands and took care of our guests.

Before I go, I just wanted to send a little "Thinking of You" to my Charlotte.

This is My Vickies favorite Moose Photo. It is a few years old but the day is held closely in her heart. She and John were up hiking after a November snowstorm and came across these two brothers.

They were playing in a large open meadow. The sound of their antlers clashing together echoed through the forest. It was the most amazing song.

After jousting for about half an hour, the brothers headed up the mountain to this point where they stopped and looked out over the mountains as the sun was going down.

Moments like this are priceless.

Back at the kennel Carley and Tucker were doing some jousting of their own.

And to top it all off....I got to go swimming....yes, it is cold but come on.....water....what can I say.

And to think, I was outside playing in the hills, swimming in my lake and just enjoying the cold winter day, while my love is having surgery.

I am so sorry, If I had known I would have, well, I would have still gone swimming but I would have felt a little guilty about it.
