Just another Monday Begins and ends with My Charlotte

Gosh, I might just be lovesick.  This is me being woken up by My Vickie.  I had been sleeping on my new bed that was sent to me all the way from Austria from my Beautiful Girl Charlotte.   Ah please My Vickie, let me go back to sleep.   But that is not the way it was going to be.  You see, we have had a tragedy occur in our little community.  A small four year old boy has fallen in the river and he has not yet been found.
So even though Murphy and I have retired from Search and Rescue work, we decided that we should go out and at least walk the lower river to see if he had been carried down stream.  And of course, we can't take a stroll through the woods without our buddy Goose.

Goose and I worked the scent pools along the river at a run.
Goose, his Mom, Murphy and Paulette lead the way down to the water, I had to keep coming back to see if My Vickie was coming.    Man she is slow.

UP stream the divers worked in the raging water with undertows and whipping whirl pools.  Above us the helicopter worked its way up and down stream looking for signs.  All this work and still at the end of the day, no one could bring a closure for this family.
When we left the river to find our way back to the main trail, My Vickie spotted the coolest mushrooms.  She is crazy about taking pictures of mushrooms.  She was so excited cause she had never seen one like this before.
She found out later, after we got back that this is a rare and specialty mushroom called a Morel.
Morel, or morchella, is a genus of ascocarp mushrooms. Ascocarps are fungi with a fruiting body, which is generally spongy in texture. Morel mushrooms are hollow on the inside, with one large cavity running the length of the stalk. They have a distinctive cap structure, and are enjoyed by amateur and veteran mushroom enthusiasts.

Of course I got to do a little underwater diving and Goose, obviously, had to find a stick.
Not just a stick for Goose, he likes the whole log.....
I tried to go home in a different truck.  I thought it looked better than last centuries pick up My Vickie drives, but she wouldn't take it.
Now I am back sleeping on my wonderful bed from My Sweet Charlotte.  I am exhausted and sad that we couldn't help end the pain of a small family, but hope that tomorrow brings them some closure.

Just another Monday.

A Love Song from across the ocean

A wonderful fun Friday that ends in
a Love Song.
We started off the day with an early morning hike up in the mountains.  We met up with Murphy, Annie and Baci and Logans human, hiked up to the Environmental Center and Guess what was waiting for me.
KIDS.   Yep,  Kids, Kids, Kids.  Of course I had to share them with Annie and Murphy but it was still great.
We talked about search dogs and how NOT to get lost and WHAT to do if you do get lost.  Then I got to play with the kids.
AND,  I met a beaver.  Yes, I have met beavers before, but My Vickie won't let me touch them or get near their "Water:.  However this guy was what My Vickie called as "Stuffed" and therefore "Safe" so I got to touch his nose and smell his body.  IT was "INTERESTING"
Then we went outside and these kids tried to hide from Me.  The key word here is "TRIED"
Of course when we were thru with the kids, Annie and I got to play in a near by creek.  Murphy even got in with us, but My Vickie wasn't quick enough to get a picture of that.
The aspen trees are starting to leaf and My Vickie says that is cool cause it means the Moose will start appearing.  I love our hikes.
Back at home Goose came by and I was able to give him his present that My Vickie got him in Florida.  I was kind of having a hard time giving it up but since Goose had just been to the vet and was in need of something to take his mind off his sore eye and sore toe, well I finally just gave in and let him have it.

so then it is bed time and guess what?   My Vickie brought out for me?

It was the most wonderful present from my Beautiful Girl Charlotte.
She sent me the most amazing bed ever ever made.  And it has "Our" names on it and I just love it.  Look how totally perfect it is.  And it is soft and comfortable too.  After My Vickie took the picture, she put it down on the floor for me to sleep on.  Oh my, just knowing that My Beautiful Girl cared enough to send this to me is, well, My heart just sings.
Thank you sooo much Sweet Charlotte, I will be dreaming of you tonight as I sleep on my new wonderful bed.  It will be like we are together.

Love
Bert

Salad and a Dip

Murphy and I went out for a salad today and then a swim.  I know you have been told not to swim just after you eat, but It was there and I cannot pass It up when I see It.

So here's to some greens and a quick dip in IT.

Plus, check it out....I can now hold my breath underwater for over 17 seconds.  (Much to My Vickie's dismay)

Wisteria Lane Monday

Yesterday as we were reading all of your posts, we came to Tracy's Post and she was talking about Serendipity.  She pointed out that"

Serendipity is defined by Mirriam-Webster as the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for. Serendipitous is a derivative of that word marked by events that are come upon or found by accident; fortuitous.

Then she asked everyone to relate a serendipitous moment in their day.  For Me and My Vickie it was when we found a beautiful red tulip in a field of cheery yellow dandelions.

Or like this morning when we woke up and started our chores.  As soon as the sun began to shine, we noticed that our Wisteria bush had blossomed.  This is serendipitous for us because we have been caring for, watering, watching, hoping for 10 years that it would bloom and it wasn't until last year that we saw the first blooms of its life.  It has been well worth the wait.
Once we got everything settled at the day care and kennel, we called our buddies Goose and Michelle to see if they wanted to go with us to water the plants in the house of one of our clients.  The fun thing is that they live up high in the mountains and this meant  HIKING.
The daffodils were all over mixed in among the aspen.  My Vickie and Michelle (Gooses Mom) couldn't stop taking pictures.  It was Pose here Goose, Pose here Bert......Pose pose pose.
We then drove higher up into the mountains and parked the old van on a hillside and hiked some more.  It was really hot, but not to fear, Goose and I found a patch of snow.

Pastor Michelle even threw snowballs for me.  It was great.
And of course we found a mud puddle.....It would be wrong to pass that up.
Some times it was a bit muddy but My Vickie just had to follow me through the mud to get this picture.
When I got back home I went for another walk with my Erianne and now I am getting ready to hit the sack. You know, go to bed, rest up.  Cause tomorrow I have to go to the groomer (not real happy about that, but it was worth it, getting to get so dirty today) then off to my friends at the hospital.
Have a great day everyone.  Hope you enjoy my short video below.

“Enjoy life. This is not a dress rehearsal.”

I know My Vickie has been dealing with a lot of "Stuff" in the last three weeks, and I take it as a personal challenge to remind her daily of all the Good......

Like, the beautiful weather we have had the last two day.

A busy schedule that helps keep her mind off the"Stuff"
Good Friends, both human and k-9 and yes....even Allred.
Our health and the ability to run, jump, swim, sing, laugh.
Did you know that this week while I was doing my rounds at the hospital (he he, that sounds like I am really cool) anyway, I was visiting with this very quiet man who has been asleep like, forever.  (well, at least 5 days) and they didn't think he was going to wake up.....Well, I was laying on the bed with him, covering his arm and hand with my big gentle head, just sending my special...."Wake up, it is a beautiful world" vibes.......He woke up!
So now back to the beautiful days.  WE all posed on the big ole log...
We have a new friend who has started coming on our strolls.  Isn't she beautiful?  Her name is Molly and she is wonderful....(Don't worry Charlotte, she is wonderful in a sisterly way)

The swamps were full of, almost clean water, certainly clean enough for us all to enjoy.  That is my old friend Cooper who I was best friends with when we were little.  I haven't seen him for two years almost.  I was so glad to see him again.
Tucker and Tye were the leaders on our hike Saturday.  Goose was the leader on Friday.  Goose didn't come Saturday and I really missed him.
My Vickie's camera didn't do so good today, but nature made up for it.
Another shot of our swamp.  really, can you blame me for wanting to swim in this beautifully intricately designed swimming hole.
I mean SERIOUSLY
More "Weed" pictures.  I love weeds.

And of course nothing is more perfect for the ending of a day than a completely submerged head.  Do you know I can hold my breath under water for about 15 seconds now.
And a final secret message to my Sweet Charlotte.

Have a wonderful Sunday My Friends                Bert

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

I loved this photo.  My Vickie says it is for Jamie

Murphy had his first day as a therapy dog at the Hospital.  He did such a good job.
He was totally intrigued with the cart we take with us when we visit.  I think he was looking for My Treats
He got a bone for Volunteer week too.  Boy how is that......you get a cool bone on your first day.
Visitors at the kennel are.   KC
 Teddy Bear
 Scrappy
 Oakley and Shaggy
 Carly
 Ryder
 Annie
 Scrappy and Carley
AND YES......Finally, My Vickie took me for a walk.  She needed to get out really bad so we called my buddies Goose and Murphy and their humans and off we went.
Spring is making its first appearance so we had a great run, lots of swimming and I even got to jump over things.  Life for Bert is WONDERFUL
My Dear Charlotte, I know some humans call this flower (dandelion) a weed, but I think it is beautiful and so I am sending you some beautiful yellow flowers over the net to let you know I am always thinking of you.

Check out this video of me in the water....SLO MO
