Allred Has Something To Say

Some of you mammalian brains have
showed some anxiety and distress
for my iatric condition
In short, some feline interloper has
decided to test my patience by
moving into my bailiwick.
So of course, I had to contend with the hostile.
The battle was hard fought, I took some nasty  disfiguring
pilfering thwacks.
It has taken some time, but my headaches seem
to be lessening and my eye is not as weepy.

I do have a bit of pain in my ear
but other than that.

I WON.

The loathsome creature
has moved on.

From Vickie:   We took the drains out on Saturday
but what Allred doesn't know is that
the damage to the ear may
need more medical attention.
We will keep you posted.

PS:  I know many of you wonder why it is, Allred
is free to roam.  He came to us as a wild cat
who learned how to use our doggy door.
He moved in and made it very clear that we are not
allowed to ask anything of him.  We must respect the boundaries
he sets for us.  In exchange we get to enjoy
his presence every few days.  Trying to change him from a
beast of the wild to a life inside is asking him too much.
We hope you understand and don't think badly of us.
All I can promise him is that I will love him
and take care of his medical needs as long as he stays with us.

You can't tame a wild beast. Allred proves that. I am glad you are better Allred. I tell ya what. Tomorrow when I come over I will bring some super glue to fix your ear. No charge.
Blessings,
Goose

My hissy brother, Nerval, is the same way. He stays in the house most of the time but can make the most mournful sounds when he wants to go outside. He is usually back in about an hour because we don't have a doggy door and he likes the comfort of a house. I wish he'd quit making that hissy sound when I try to say hello to him, though. He isn't very friendly!! I am glad to see Allred is doing better. I want to meet him too!! I'm told my brother, Murphy, LOVED Allred!!

I think Allred appreciates that you love him for who he is. I hope he continues to improve quickly.

I understand about Allred, I wouldn't want to mess with him or tell him no. I hope he gets better soon. His booboo does look better, but I bet he hasn't changed.

We hope his ear can be fixed.

There is only one Allred and the humans are well advised to do whatever he wants, including letting him roam the countryside terrorizing the neighbors. One does worry about the arrival of a mean kitty that could best Allred. Is there an evil devil kitty even meaner than Allred? One shudders.

Kisses,
Dexter

I'm so glad Allred has a safe and warm place to come to when he needs it. There must be lots of love there as he keeps coming back! And I'm glad he is feeling better. Hopefully his ear doesn't need extra medical attention but he's lucky he has you looking after him.
Hugs!

Back home in Australia all cats basically come and go as they please....in fact when I first came to the USA I thought how cruel it was to actually confine them! It is also illegal to de-claw cats and dock tails back home. It's all in the perspective we have and no matter what alred has the most important thing....a home, people that love him and take care of him, food and annoying canines to box in the ears when he's annoyed. What more could a cat want?

nice to see the drain removed from Allred's head..handsome as ever..so good of you to care for him!

Yep Ms. Vicki mom was watching the news the other day about people who think wild tigers can live in their homes without any consquences..well for one thing it cost $20,000 a year to feed ONE tiger and for another thing they might eat you...so we understand about not taking the wild out of allfred.
mean ole cat dietzman is the very same way..he comes into the house and eats ALOT ..lays around on the chair and goes right back out the door...he is fifteen so mom worries about him but i just tell mom hes to mean to worry about....
i am glad allfred is back on the road to recovery!!

We guess you could say that Allred was born to be wild:) We are glad things are healing up, but that ear,too bad. Mom had a dog years ago who had some ear damage from being hit by a car. The ear canal would get gravely infected and close up tight. The only way to keep it open was with a drain tube tied through a hole in the side of his face. The vet left it in once for about 8 weeks to see if the canal would stay open, but as soon as the drain was removed, within a day it closed again. Eventually he had to have the entire ear canal all the way in removed:( We hope that doesn't happen to Allred.

Allred, you are looking much better. You certainly chosse the right faimly to shack up with. Are cats are all rescues and would be miserable if they could not go outside as well. We do the best we can with what we have in life.

Backcountry Brodie said...

Hey, sometimes ya gotta do wot ya gotta do. That be like our kittehs living in the basement. Some peeples mite think that be cruel but they is feral kittehs that do not want to go outside any more and they is furry comfy down there with beds and toys and all of the kitteh accoutrements. It be warm and dry and there be clean litter boxes and plenty of noms. They do not want mom's attentions so they do not get any and efurrybuddy by happy. Same fur Allred, right? He be his own man. But I betcha a rascally raccoon did that to him. They can rip up a kitteh, even Allred.

Oh wow! So he's feral! Amazing that you managed to get him to the vet's without armour. He looks much better. I think you're taking terrific care of him. I don't understand half the things he said in this post BTW. He's obviously a very literate cat ;)

We think it's wonderful that you give Allred safe haven, food, medical care, and LOVE.
We sure hope he heals up.

I do not think badly of you at all, Vickie. In fact, I admire you all the more for repecting Allred and allowing him to live his life as he wishes. Our world would be better if we all would recognize other animals and people for what they are; to give them what we can; and to receive what they give to us.

I'm glad Allred is better but I do hope he will leave dear Bert alone.

Me is so happy my Allred is better! My Mommy has had cats just like Allred. And cats that adopted her just like Allred adopted the Canine Country Club. A before cat, Tiki was just like Allred.
Me can come and go as me wants, but not when it gets dark. We lives in the middle of nowhere, even barn cats stays in at night as the owls and the coyotes think of us as lunch. When we lived in the big city, me could not come and go as me wanted as there was other dangers.
Allred, me loves yous lots and me is so happy yous better

Goodness Allred. Well I'm glad you won and have reclaimed your territory as completely yours - no trespassers allowed. I award you the purple heart of a brave warrior injured in defense of his country. I am honored that you choose to visit Blogville now and then. Great choice to pick Bert's place as a campout in between adventures :)
