I think she has an Ulcer

To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon the verdant green hills is the most perfect refreshment.
- Jane Austin _______________________________________________________________________My Vickie has had one of "THOSE" days.  One that rips your heart out of your body, lays it down in front of oncoming traffic and spins out of control as you feel life dragging you along behind the big semi that smashed your organs.

OK, and she is a little bit of a drama queen too.

But it really was a bad one, so she is always grateful for those little moments that her and I can take a side trip off the beaten path and enjoy our greatest friend....Nature.

We were on our way to run all our errands for the day when our Friend Nature, called and beckoned us out.  My Vickie wisely decided that it would be OK, even well worth it, if we stopped and smelled the flowers..... (so to speak)
The river is high and the sound of it crashing over the rocks below can be quite calming.
Our heart tree always gives us a smile.

Spring time blossoms fill the air with a sweet aroma that makes us pause, close our eyes and feel the breeze around us.
Of course I am always one of her favorite sights.
Later in the day our buddy Goose and his human Michelle came over and watched the place while we took our friend to the vet for the trip to the Bridge.
And not to be outdone......Allred is on the prowl for the Easter Bunny.

Love
Bert

Bert, I love the new header picture and what a sweet little pal you have there. I hope Vickie is feeling better and did you mention you are preparing someone for a trip to the bridge, if so I am sorry or maybe I misunderstood.

Please keep Allred away from the Easter Bunny, it will be ruined for all of us if the Easter Bunny gets attacked.

Hey there Bert,
I am so jealous of your beautiful day with Nature 'cause I'm kind of in love with her myself. Tell your Vickie she outdid herself on the photos. I had to lay around the house today but finally got mom to play with me by nudging my toys into her lap. She throws them and I bring them back. It doesn't sound like a compliment when she moans about me being a retriever. Then when your Vickie told her about Rainbow Bridge, she said she was glad I was there to nudge her into play. I don't know where the bridge is but mom says she hopes it is a long time before I find out. And tell Allred if he will wait, I'll be there to help him chase that silly wabbit! (I just don't know what we'll do with him if we catch him -- maybe eat his colored eggs?)

Bert, I am sorry your furiend went to the Bridge. That does make for a sad day. At least you and your Vickie went to some of your special places and found some solace and peace. Your heart tree is beautiful :)

We're glad you were able to take some time to enjoy nature in the midst of a difficult day. #1 and were just discussing this morning how wonderful it is to walk through the fields and admire the trees covered in blossoms.

Hey Bert,
I am glad that you and your Vickie got a way for a little bit. It's the best medicine.
MOM and I are sure sad to hear about Ellie May, we'll say a little prayer for her family and for you guys too, cuz we know Ellie May has been apart of your daycare for a long time.
I do not think it is a good thing for Allred to be with the Easter Bunny. It cannot end well. I mean yea maybe Vickie might get some new slippers out of it, but still it's not worth the heart ache it would bring to so many.
Here's to a better day.
Blessings,
Goose

I am so sorry about your Vickie's day. I'm glad that you stopped and enjoyed nature with her. That can soothe the soul.

I'm sorry that a friend had to go to the bridge today.

I know how Vickie feels. Sometimes, life is just too much... but nature and the love of a dog (or two) can help a lot.

KB said...

Ooops, I forgot. Please tell Allred that a cat that is MUCH bigger than him visited near my house while I was away, and he was saying "Where is Allred???". I'll show photos sometime soon.

Mother Nature is very soothing.

Your photos are just gorgeous. We are sorry and sad for whoever has joined the party at the Bridge. Our sympathy to their family and buddies. :(

You'll be surprised at this, but I hope Allred finds the EB. I've never been a fan. He's never once left me a basket of treats... yet, from what I read on the blogs, he leaves lots of dogs and cats elaborate baskets filled with goodies. I don't know why I always get passed up, but it's very annoying.

RIP to your friend:(

Somehow I missed the prior post but had to say that I love the pics and can't wait until me and Stanley can see this place ourselves! Does Miss Vickie have an ulcer? My mom has had a couple of them so tell your mom to get to the doc because they can give her a medicine that will heal the ulcer.

XOXOXOXO

Hi there, I'm so glad your Vickie is doing a little better. Whenever I'm feeling under the weather, going out in nature always helps plus the love of a good pup will make your mom's heart sing. Our house sounds empty right now, it takes a dog to make a house a home. I'm not sure who was crossing over but I know they'll be welcomed by a whole group.
Hugs, Noreen

Ditto what the others said. We're sorry Vicki had a bad day, but we're sure she feels much better when she gets to spend time with you.

Who went to the Bridge? We're so sorry if you have lost one of your friends.

Allred is after the Easter Bunny?! Better sit Allred down and make him read Goose's post about the origin of the Easter Bunny. Bet even Allred will think twice.

Hi Y'all,

Today is Thursday and I hope your "My Vickie" is feeling wonderful today. Spring is not time to be feeling under the weather.

I'm so sorry to hear someone had to go the the bridge. :(

As for Allred...I don't care for the way he is licking his lips! I must hurry now and see if I can find the Easter Bunny in my neck of the woods so I can warn him to stay away from y'alls and Allred.

Y'all come by now,

I'm sorry she had a bad day. Whenever I'm upset, two things can help me: dogs and nature. Looks like you guys got both.
Oh, and ice cream.

Curt Rogers said...

What a glorious day the two of you had. And this is why dogs are so important to our lives. They live in the moment and work miracles to drag us kicking and screaming into it with them. It's a lesson Duncan has been patient enough to teach me more times than either of us would care to count. I am thankful that Bert is there to do the same for you. I hope your stress and worry were lessened and that despite the challenges and sadness of the day, that your spirit was strong because of your willingness to venture outside your box. Blessings this glorious Spring morning!
