Still Missing

Some of you wanted My Vickie to keep you up on the search for the little boy that fell in the river.  We are so sorry to say, he is still missing.
We still say,(us dogs) that the little boy is about 2 miles down stream, but as time goes by, he could easily float out to the Great Salt Lake and never be found.
this is my Buddy Keiser.  He is working the other shore.
It is so hard to believe this quiet peaceful looking river is very dangerous just under the surface.
Murphy is checking the other side of the shore too.
This is where the scent is "Pooling"  at least that is what I keep telling My Vickie.  Now that doesn't mean the little boy is right here, it just means that his scent is settling in this area.  You see it can come to the surface, then be carried by the winds on top of the water to lots of places along the shore.
Water searching can be very frustrating for all..... (FYI.  Some may want to know why I don't wear a vest to identify myself when I am on a search, like Keiser does.  well, as My Vickie tells me, she was on a search many years ago and one of the dogs got injured because he had a vest on and it got caught up in the dense terrain.  Since then, she has always worked her partners off lead and "nekkid"  Just so you Know)
After the day of searching, Kurt wanted to check our pulse and respiration to complete his re certification for his EMT license.  Of course I don't need an EMT license, I just need a good nose.   And I got that.
After a tough week of searching, Murphy and I got a big reward today.  Yep.....Kids....lots of fun little kids.
Happy Live Children.  Sometimes searching can be so sad that a day like today can make all the difference in the world.  I was so tired, so sad, so pooped, but today...well, I feel much better now.  Thanks to all the kids who let me and Murphy come and play with them.
And yes, if you saw Goose's post, My Vickie and Goose's mom went out on the atv's last night WITHOUT us.  She came back so excited because she saw This:
Yep, a two year old little guy.  You'll have to check into Goose's blog cause his human named this guy and your never gonna guess what she is calling him.
Or maybe you will.   Any Guesses?

Fred? Snooki? Lemondrop? Australia?

I give up. What did he name him?

I hope they're not calling him Allred!

We certainly understand about how sad and grueling those searches can be! Hopefully they do find his body, though. It would be so much easier for his family.

I sure hope they had a long lens on the camera to get that close of a picture of that moose! I wouldn't want to get too close to those huge guys.

I'm glad you had such a good time with the kids.

I sure wish the humans in charge of the search would listen to you SAR dogs.
The kids sure love you Bert, and why wouldn't they!
As for our MOM's sneaking off without us. Well as you know I have forgiven mine. She brought me back 3 big beaver sticks. I love them. She said we get to go next time. But I have to behave my self if they go looking for moose. Those crazy woman. I know Miss Vickie didn't bring anything back for you so I will be glad to share a stick with you.
And I know what my MOM calls the moose. But I'll let the other guess. I know she will be posting pictures for a few days of what they did.
Blessings,
Goose

Oh Bert, so sorry that your search has been so unproductive and sad. Good thing that you got those other kids and all that Nature to off-set the sadness...

Hi Bert, we're glad you have done your very best to find the little boy. It must be extremely hard for your Vickie. Hugs to you both.

Did Goose call him Sticks! Have a relaxing weekend. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Sorry to hear that the child has not been found. Rivers can be scary.

We only vest our dogs when temperatures fall during hunting season. Vests have a purpose, but as you say can get caught up in brush or sticks in the water.

We were so hoping the little boy's body had been found by now. The searchers here are looking for a young man who went missing in the creek Sunday night when we had 5 inches of rain in two hours. They have found his pants but no other sign of him. So sad for the families.

We are excited to hear what that moose's name is.

Have a great weekend.

Sounds like y'all have had a great week! Except for the gettin' left behind part, that is.

Wowzers, look at that moose! How exciting! We don't see mooses here in Kansas. I did meet a large schnauzer yesterday, though. Probably not as cool.
I love that you got to play with some kids. I imagine your search and rescue work can get you down - especially in cases like this one. Ask your Vickie to give you a big hug from our mom, OK?
I've GOT to go see what Goose named the moose!
Play bows,

Hi Vicki!
Just thought I'd tell you that that little boy was Nate's cousin's son's cousin... if that makes sense. Really sad. I'm glad they found him. :( That'll give the family some closure, at the very least.
