Contest Winner Announced and Ewey

To start with, I want to tell you about a cute web site you might want to track with me and Shawnee the Shepherd.  http://raffaytravels.wordpress.com/  It follows a tiny little lamb as he and his family travel across the west.

He got in  a little trouble this week and Ranger Dave has taken him into custody.  There are two ways to help him get out of jail and one of them is to take a walk.

I took this hike to help Ewey get out of paying bail.

So Ewey, This is for you.

Now for the little angel that was abandoned at our place.

Thanks everyone for all the name suggestions.  I made my choice and I'll tell you who the winner is in a few minutes but first:
Here she is visitng my best vet friend Dr. Doughty.  My Vickie took the little one in so we coudl get all her shots, heartworm test and to see if she has been spayed as well as how old she is and if she is in good health, before we try and find her a forever home.

(Don't tell dr. Doughty about this picture.  He would probably not give me treats for a while if he saw this picture)
Well, she is in excellent health, she does not have heartworm and she is about 6 years old or a little more.   Now we have to find her a wonderful home and I suspect that we better find it soon cause My Vickie is falling in love with her.

I kinda like her too, but I have to remind My Vickie that we cannot keep every stray that gets abandoned here and beleive me, sometimes there are a lot of them.  We already adopted, Tristy, Abby and Scrappy and if My Vickie had her way we would take in every homeless pet, but then she couldn't make any money and we would have to move and live under the freeway by the river with the transients and that might be colder and more uncomfortable a way of life than I like.
So lets get down to the good stuff.  You all had some wonderful names to pick from.  My Vickie and I couldn't decide which one was best so we put them all on sheets of paper and I got to choose.  To make it fair, cause several of you liked the name "Angel" we put the name you suggested and your name on a slip so that everyone gets a chance.

Then My Vickie put them on the floor and asked me to pick one.
Honestly, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but I smelled all of them and finally decided to pick this one up.    And the winner is:...........

Curt and Duncan of Walking Duncan  http://whilewalkingduncan.blogspot.com/

And the name for our little one is:

Willa

All the names were great.  I was shooting for Mattie but I picked Willa and do you know what....It fits her.  It is a pretty name, a gentle name.  It fits.    So Curt  send My Vickie an email so she can get some info so I can send you your prize.

Thanks every one for helping us name Willa.  Keep your paws crossed and send us lots of good vibes so we can find the best home ever.

I am going to leave you with a picture of Allred.  Yes , Devil Cat is still alive, well and still torturing me, but I gotta tell you something that made me respect him a little more....Not trust him, but respect him.
He had a sore eye last week and so My Vickie took him to Dr. Doughty.  He found that Allred had a big old peice of cheat grass.  (If you don't know what that is, around here it is a dry peice of grass with a hard point and three or four spears coming off the end of it.  Like an arrow.  Very painful.)

So anyway, Dr. Doughy had to go in with tweezers and another tool that pulled out his third eyelid.  Then reaching way down deep into his eye he gripped the pointy painful stick and pulled it out.  All without any anesthesia or numbing stuff.  And you know, that evil old cat, who hides behind the door, then attacks me when I come through, or leaps form his castle onto my back and rides me like a horse, diggin his evil claws into my back while I fight to get him off.....that guy.....didn't make a sound.....sat still as a statue and just let the dr.  reach in and take it out.

I have to say....I was very impressed.....

Not enough to ever turn my back on him, but none the less, pretty impressed.

Have a great week all.

Love
Bert

Hi, Vickie and Bert! I'm so happy our name smelled and tasted the best! ;)
Thanks for picking it! What an honor. It's name I'd been saving for a possible, future sister for Duncan but when I saw that adorable face I knew it belonged to her. I hope she and her future family love it as much as I do!

Since I can't seem to find an email anywhere I'll just give you mine. You can reach me at jcr138@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, AND hearing more about how little Willa is doing.

All the best,

Curt (and Duncan)

I must has missed your postie about Willa being DUMPED at your place. GRRRRRR - I went back and readed it. The only thing wot makes us feel better about STOOPID COWARD peeples doing STOOPID COWARD stuffs is that we beleef that wot goes around comes around. Sumday they be getting theirs and they should be skeered. Furry skeered.

Oh, we just caught up on the story of poor Willa. :( So, so sad that she got in the shape she was in. We certainly hope someone realizes that they can't live without her and takes her home soon!

Glad Allred is okay now. He and Eva would be good pals, we think. Eva likes to spring out from under the table cloth and scare us - but then she rubs on us and purrs. Silly cats.

Hi again Bert! Thanks to the human for the camera info, our human has a Canon which ahe says she absolutely loves but it's an old one too - she looking at posh new ones but we could have 2 puppies for the cost! Maybe a camera would be the best idea after all though ;-) Dexter x
