Sad, Fun and Pretty

So early this morning we got a really little surprise left abandoned in a crate outside the front gate of Canine Country Club.  My Vickie was so sad when she realized someone had just dumped this sweet little girl on the side of the road.  If it hadn't been for a client dropping off her dog for day care and noticing the crate, this little darling could have sat out in the hot sun all day.

Why would humans do such a thing.  The temps outside are almost 100 degrees here during the day.  My Vickie called the humans Cowards....and she was mad......oh so mad.

So, My Vickie knows most of you are too far away to help us find a new home for this little angel but we did think it would be fun to have a "Name Contest"  (My Vickie just told me that we are gonna give a prize for the winner of the Name Contest.  I don't know what it is, but yeah.....a Prize.)

You all could help us Name Her.  So if you have a minute will you leave your choice of a name in the comment section.  Then we will put the names all together I will pick out the name of my choice.

Tomorrow the little angel will go see Dr. Doughty to get a clean bill of health and all her shots.   My Vickie says "The least the Coward could do is let us know if she is up to date on her shots and if she is spayed"  Oh and when My Vickie says that, she is not saying it in a nice calm voice but in her "Disgusted" Voice.
Well, after My Vickies rant above, I'll make this short.  We went out to another demo today.  As you can See Murhpy is really a showman at the demos.  The kids just love him.  If you click on the picture it will give you a close up so you can see their happy faces.
Murphy always likes to show the kids how tall he is and most of the time, he is the tallest one in the room, well except for the adults.
Me, I get bored easily so I just pick a couple of kids and lay down, letting them carress me to sleep.  It works out well for me.
We like to teach the kids How To Make Themselves BIG, if they get lost.  By laying down on the ground, holding a bandana or some other material, like a shirt, ect. Then they do a "Snow Angel"  This makes them so much bigger for the search planes.  It really works.
After the demo, it is KID TIME.  I know you might be getting bored of hearing about my KID TIME and my demos but I promised the kids I would put their picture on my blog.
Then we get the kids together with all of us dogs (you might notice my new gal pal Baci is here) and take a group picture.  Then My Vickie sends them a print after the demo so they can have it in class to remember us by.
And after we are done we give each child a Poster with our pictures on it and some instructions on "How to stay safe" if they should ever get lost.
Me and My Vickie have been trying hard to keep up our commitment to the "Walking Challenge" http://www.lessonsfrom4legs.com/  but the hot temperatures and the dangerous lightning storms have almost put a halt to our daily trips, that and the bunch of demos and therapy visits we have had over the last few weeks.

But fear not Maizey,  we plan on making up for lost miles as soon as things permit us to.
When we do get to go, though, My Vickie has to stop every five seconds to take pictures of flowers and weeds so here are a few of them for your viewing pleasure.  But if you want to see a really incredible flower, you need to pop over Romping and Rolling in the Rockies http://romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com/   You will be amazed, she has a picture of a flower My Vickie and I have never seen.  If you know what it is, will you please tell us.  We have looked and looked for the name of it.
Yes, My Vickie takes pictures of weeds too but she just got into this "Seeing what it looks like from the point of view of a mouse" mode.  From a mouse's point of view, you will always see the plants and flowers looking up and it works out pretty cool with clear blue skys or dark grey ones.
Well, I am off to convince My Vickie that we should go camping again.

Wish me Luck and please give us ideas for a name for our little angel.

Love
Bert

We like the name Gracious Courage..."Gracie" for short because it takes courage being abandoned and grace to still have such a sweet and peaceful look about you after such a horibble moment.
Love your 'Kid Demos'. I would like to do something like this with Miss Stella one day.
Love your photos....stunning! : )

Such bad humans to leave a little doggie all alone. :( She looks like a Mitzie to me, but I like Sugar's idea of 'Angel.' ;)

Looks like you so enjoy being around all those children -- I think they would make me very anxious.

Woofs & hugs,

~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)

that is awful! that littledog isn;t even a newborn that might not yet have been named. she must have had a family for a while. why not at least leave an anonymous message with her name?

this makes me mad. thank goodness The Coward at least had the sense to leave it at your door and not in a dump or ditch.

too upset to think of a name.

hey Bert,

She is a beauty! She looks European to us, and has the face of a Princess, so we thought "Tessa." :->

Thank you for rescuing her. What a horrible person to just dump her, in a crate, on a road, in the HEAT!! I can't even imagine how a human could go to sleep at night knowing they did that to a living creature. What is the matter with some humans? Uh oh - my human is getting very furious, we better change the subject. Needless to say, thank God she was found and you are Angels for saving her.

I love reading about your adventures with the kids, and how you are educating them and sharing experiences with them! And the pictures are always fun to look at, so please keep sharing.

And your Vicki took amazing nature photos. I saw the flower picture at "Romping and Rolling..." - what an incredible flower! I don't know the name, though.

Such a sweetie she is. I don't understand why her owners just dumped her like that. Look at those nails of hers! She obviously was not well kept & maintained.

The 1st two names that popped up in my head when I looked at her picture was "Heaven" & "Grace". Put that together & it'll be one beautiful name for a beautiful girl! Another name that I think would suit her too is "Blessie".

Hey there Bert...

What a sweet little thing. I understand Vickie being mad about her being abandoned. A name....mmm...let me think a bit....

I loved seeing all the pictures of your kids visit. You are all superstars!
Gorgeous flora pictures too.

...Brainwave...how about 'Flora' as a name? Or 'Floral'?

Sending lotsaluv

You know what I think? I think the person who dropped your new friend off did the very best thing by leaving her where she could be found by good people who will do everything to ensure she has a beautiful life. They are most certainly cowards and the lowest of the low, but on some level, their selfish action will be of incredible joy and benefit. She is a lucky little thing, indeed.

And quite frankly, I think she looks like a Willa or a Mabel. I can't decide, but I'm kind of leaning toward Willa. Such a sensitive face, but strong and determined.

Oh, and before I forget, your photos are incredible. If Duncan could complain I'm sure he'd say something about the amount of time he spends waiting for me to photograph grass and leaves and flowers every time we walk.

Good job! What a busy time you've had!

We like the name Angel too. Some peeps are just so stupid and cowardly!!! We hope the sweet little girl can find a loving furever home.

We love your stories about your time with the kids - very good PSA for the humans to learn how to make kids and pups work together. Great tip for the kids when they are lost out in the wilderness.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

Pee Ess - we LOVE Romping and Rolling too - amazing photos.

Don't know why the name Wilma came up...it seem like such an odd name for a dog. People can be cruel. My own two cats, Cosmo and Ling were thrown into a drain in a plastic bag and they were too small to get out of the drain. And the weather was HOT HOT HOT. If Cosmo didn't mew, I would have probably missed them.
I hope the little doggie gets a clean bill of health and a good home.

AND I hope you get to go camping very soon!

How very sad - but I guess at least we can be thankful they didn't just dump her in the middle of no-where and let her fend for herself. They probably thought they were doing a good thing leaving her with you. I am with "just ramblin" love the name Gracie - because by the grace of god - someone did find her.

Aww poor baby, but she's now in good hands thanks to you.
I think Faith would be a good name for her.
Have a great weekend.

Poor things were half starved and covered in fleas and ticks. We understand your Vickie's emotions!

We think you should name her Angel and that was our thought before we saw that Sugar suggested it.

First of all, that poor little PUPPY!!! Vickie is wonderful to take her in! She looks like the foam on a latte. Hmm... how about Latte? Because you love her a latte to take her in! Ha woo.
OK, I'm not a highly trained guy like you, but I really think I could do that part where you're resting your head on that little guys legs and getting in some snuggle time. If you ever need spelled from that - give me a call, OK? I'm really good at that kind of thing!
Mom just LOVES your wildflower pix - and the "mouse eye view"! Our mom is in to stuff like that.
Luv,
Dave

Humans disgust me. How about "Hope" for a name? You've given her hope by taking care of her and helping her.

Love the school trip!

I love your "mouse view" photos. I do the same thing. Little weeds can look like a forest canopy!

Hi Bert! Just a quick message from your daycare friend, James Dean. My mommy says you should name your new friend "karma". I think it suits her because the mean people who just dumped her the way they did, definitely have some bad karma coming their way. She, on the other hand, already had great karma because somehow she found her way to your Vickie. That's the best karma she could have ever had!

See you in daycare!!!

Love,

James Dean and James Dean's Mommy
