Faces of the Homeless

Friday was a bit tense around here last week.  I thought My Vickie was gonna go and strangle someone.  It would have been really scarey if she had cause who would take care of me if she were in Jail.

She was pretty upset when two more dogs were left abandoned at our place.  I wont' bore you with her words, her tears, or her frustration at the humans who decided they wouldn't be responsible for their dogs one more day.

So in order to keep them from being put to sleep or putting them into a strange environment with no love or attention she gave in and said, yes she would take them.

Little did she know that the dogs had not been vaccinated in years, no heartworm,  and not neutered.

OK off the attitude, lets meet our new loves.

I have to say, even I was shocked at the handsomeness of this guy.  Of course I am darn good lookin but this guy.....look at that beautiful coat.  The shiney red and rusty colors.  Oh my.

I mean yes, this poor boy has had some problems in his life, like he has one eye that has the curled in eyelid and so he has been in chronic pain for six years.
But my Doctor fixed the eye and neutered him and checked him for heartworm and gave him all his shots today so in a little bit of time, after the eye has healed and the (well you know) those other things are healed, he is going to be such a happy dog.
This is his little sis.  She lookes even rougher but oh what a heart of gold.  She needs to loose some weight, well a lot of weight and she goes into the doctor on Friday cause we wanna make sure she is ok before we try and find her a home too.
This little girl is the one I told you about in the last post that isn't housetrained but after three months, she finally used the doggy door yesterday.  YEAH.....we are all so happy.  Now maybe she will go outside when she wants to piddle.
Of course Little Willa was homeless but she is for sure got a home now.....WITH US.
Scrappy and Abby were both found wandering the streets a few years ago and after working with them, we tried to find them a home, but they ended up having some issues that made them really hard to adopt out so they have a home with us too.  And I couldn't be happier.  Especially Scrappy.  Him and me are best pals and he is the only dog I do this too:

Just so you know, My Vickie is in a much better mood now and she is very very glad we are taking care of these guys.  It may take a while to find the right home, but they are such sweethearts....so they can stay as long as they need to.

I on the other hand am a little worried that I am being put on the side burner with her taking care of all these strays, so if any of you (Who live in or around Utah) know of someone who would take really good care of these two  PLEASE send her and email.  jamiesyra@msn.com
Thanks so much
Bert

What a kind hearted person Your Vickie is. Bless her (and you, for welcoming these poor homeless furries into your home).

I just don't understand people who abandon their pets after a couple of years with ridiculous excuses. What sort of a person is that?

Scrappy doesn't seem to be that impressed with your dancing behind him, Bert. What a shame!
Your Vickie is an angel!

OK Bert, what is up with the bouncing? As a friend, I will tell you that it makes you look like a fool. But you do what you want...

I am glad that your Vickie helped out those orphan dogs. They will find forever homes, I am certain.

Sigh - this upsets my Mom too - how can people just suddenly decide to stop loving or caring about a dog they have had for years? We know sometimes their are special reasons - like the elderly who just can not cope anymore but in general there is just no good reason. Maybe people should be made to test before they get a furbaby or sign a contract!!! Thank you to your Miss Vickie for taking them in and looking after them - we have all our paws crossed that you can find them wonderful loving homes.

Oh Bert, that makes us so sad to see those two beautiful pups so neglected. Your Mom is a saint, the wonderful heart she has is amazing. We hope that someone will step forward and help find them a good home.

That video is a riot - that's some interesting dance step you have there:)

It is a shame how much people just don't care. My mom does the Relinquishment for Weimaraner Rescue in OH, KY, IN and WV and oh the excuses she hears....it is so sad. Glad the eye is fixed that looked awful painful. Bless your mom for taking good care of them.

Bert, if my mom lived close by your mom, she would be in jail for sure. She gets really upset at the jerks that just decide to go their own happy way and leave animals. They are gorgeous and we are SO happy that Your Vickie is very kind and has a heart of gold! Loved the video...that made my mom laugh so much...you are very handsome and jumping like that is showing great talent!!! Lots of love, Holly & Mom

Bert I venture to say, "Your place in Ms. Vickie's heart" is safe. A heart like that in endless.

Tell her if I was closer, I'd be there helping out. :)

Your Vickie is a patron saint of dogs. I thank her from the bottom of my heart. I can understand how angry she gets at some people but she is so full of love for dogs that she saves many dogs.

I'm not necessarily a religious fellow, but what's the old saying? Something like, "God doesn't give us more than we can handle." The Universe has led these two beautiful dogs to you because you'll be able to take better care of them than their former human companions and you're trusted enough to find them good homes. They're not challenges for you, you're salvation to them. The Universe knows what it's doing. I'm sure of it.
