Happy Birthday Corbin

Today is a special day for our friend Corbin.  And as a part of wishing Happy Birthday, we wanted to put in a word or two about the Pit Bulls that have come into our lives.  Specifically one special girl.  The one who taught us that Pit Bulls can be the most loving caring beautiful sensitive amazing breed ever.
This is Betty.  She was dropped off here at Canine Country Club with a litter of 6 week old puppies.  (9 of them)  My Vickie was pretty upset with them being abandoned so she committed to find all the puppies wonderful homes when they were old enough.  Betty was the most incredible dog.  She was inviting, and courteous to any and every person that came to meet her puppies.  Never once did she growl or show concern about the humans, no matter if they were men, women or tiny children.  Because of her we found great homes for each pup.  But by the time it was time to look for a home for Betty, no one was good enough for her.  My Vickie and I just could not let her go.
She came into the house and became a member of our family.  She taught us so much about love, total unconditional love.  She is a great teacher of love.
There was this family of three boys and one girl, all in jr high school, and a wonderful caring mother and father that came all the time to play with all the dogs at Canine Country Club.  They also took me and Betty for walks.  We all went camping together and had great times.  One day they asked my Vickie if Betty could come live with them.  Well she knows this family well by now and she knows that they need Betty to teach them many things that only Betty can teach.  And in this family Betty would have all those humans to herself and not have to share them with me and all the other dogs.  Well we figured Betty could handle that so we sadly but happily let her go live with her new and forever home.
So Happy Birthday Corbin and thanks for teaching the rest of the world about your breed.

That's so wonderful! Betty found the home she deserves, after spending a lovely time with your lovely family. I hope someday more pitties will have stories like that to tell.

Woof to you Bert!!!! That was so selfless of you and your Vickie to let Betty be adopted by a forever family of her own. It must have been really hard to let her go.

My mother and I are so thankful that the horrible person that abandoned Betty and her pups chose you and your Vickie. Betty and her pups could have so easily ended up in the wrong hands, but instead have wonderful lives thanks to you and your Vickie.

Much love to you Bert - XXOO - Mazzie

Great post Bert; it is needed. I haven't known any pits that were like Betty and unfortunately in Ca. there were so many maulings that the breed got a bad rap. I think it was the bad people who had them that deserve the bad rap. So glad Bette got such a wonderful furever family.
Thanks for sharing and birthday wishes to Corbin.

Hey Bert!
Wow, what a wonderful pooch your Betty is! Such a good mom and loving furiend. I'm thrilled she found a great pack to join and this is a perfect story for today!
BTW: I'd love to do those olympic rings as pawprints. I had the right shape, but can't seem to get them the right colors. Grrrr, but I'm working on it!

You are very wise Bert in understanding that Betty had things to share with her new family so it was her time to leave yours. I wish her all the best! She is such a beauty! And furry happy all her pups found homes too!

Dearest Bert - what a wonderful story - you and your Vickie are so warmhearted and you both do so much for all dogs. Also here in Austria dominates many times a bad oppinion about pitbulls - therefore it's enormous important to here such good things! All my love your Charlotte

Bert, your family has first hand experience with what today is all about. Great post, and thank you for being so kind to Betty, both in taking her in and having the heart to let her go when the right family was there for her.

Happy Birthday, Corbin.

Bert, you are so right in saying that there are things that our peeps can only learn from their dogs. Mom says there are MANY things (she pressed the Shift button to make that be in caps). We're glad Betty and the pups all found forever homes.

Your friends,

What a great story! Betty reminds us of our Lexie earlier this year... she was such a wonderful mother with a horrible story, but she was the most loving, sweet and caring dog. The momma really wanted to keep Lexie, but decided she'd be selfish if she kept Lex all to herself when she could go out and win over even more people with her beautiful pitty ways. Thank you for this post! It was truly great to read!

What a great story! I've always loved Pit Bulls. It's so sad that it's bad people who have given them such a bad reputation. But Betty sounds like an amazing dog, partly, I'm sure, to the wonderful environment in which she and her litter were entrusted. My friend Ruth just adopted a beautiful Pit named Tallulah. She looks an awful lot like Betty. My heart has been won over.

Thank you!
