Mostly Pictures

Me and my neighbor Trigger went for a strole on Sunday.  I thought you would like to see what a cool dude he is.
This is him shaking after a swim.  If you click on the picture you can see what cool eyes he has.
I think he has beautiful eyes
And he can leap thru the air like a wolf after a bird in the wild.  You'll be happy to know this is not a bird, it is just a stick.
Then we came home and fixed the dog van.  My Vickie uses it to take the doggy day care dogs on walks cause she dont' care if they get all muddy and wet, then get in the van.  It is cool to have an old transport vehicle that a dog can enjoy totally.  Wet or Dry.
So remember last week I told you how Murphy fell in the lake.  I am beginning to wonder if that isn't a golden/doodle thing.  You see I asked My Vickie to see if my girlfriend Annie and my forever friend Murhpy could go on the walk with us on Tuesday.  (WE are in the Walking Challenge and we need to make up miles cause we didnt' make our quota last week)

I thought it would be great to show My Annie where the Murphigator fell into the lake last week.  I never figured that she, my beautious girlfriend would be as silly as Murphy.  It is true, as you will see in the sequence below.   My Annie did the exact same thing that Murhpy did.  Exactly one week a part.

Seriously is it just golden/doodles or have I picked some real "special" friends.

1st.  Recap of Murhpy Last week.

Walking to the end of the log for a drink.
 This week

Annie walks to the end of the log
Last week.....

Murphy falls in.
 This week.

Annie falls in  "HEAD FIRST"
 Last week

Murhpy struggles to get out and not drown
 This week

Annie struggles to get out and not drown.
Can you beleive it.  Same log, same fall, same panicked, "I can't swim" salute to nature.   Seriously.....There has got to be something wrong with them.

I do have to say  that I was a little more worried about my presious Annie than I was about Murhpy.  And the humans were all just about ready to get themselves wet in an attempt to rescue her when she finally managed to pull
herself up on the log.

I figured I would never get her back in the water again.

later in the walk, Murhpy and Me started smelling something with human scent on it down in the swamps by the river.  We went in and rescued my new friend "Paulo the Ape"
First we had to do CPR
Then I carefully watched over him until he had a chance to dry off.   Some little girl somewhere is probably crying and missing her little buddy that was probably carried off in the flood waters, ending down here and rescued by me and Murhpy.
One final swim before we head back.  Annie mostly watched.
A game of tug with my buddy Murphy.
Then a game of "RUN to Dry Off"

A final group shot and then Home we go.

Later
Bert

How weird is that Annie and Murphy fell from the same log. There might be some kind of spirit pushing dogs off who dare step on the log.

Maybe it is the log that is special? Anyway, i liked going on thatvtour with you and your friends.

those are truly pawsome photos and what terrific friends you have. At least you will never have to worry about Annie and Murphy running away to the circus to be tight rope walkers - I don't some how think they have the balancing part worked out.

Love the run to dry off picture. I can't figure out how a dog that is part golden and part poodle don't love the water. Maybe they are 'special' as you said.

Hi, Bert, and hello from Austria..
O dear, my walkings in the rain and my wetness afterwards are very harmless again your fresh-muddy river-games.
Of course, all dog-hearts beat faster, viewing on this pctures.
Next wednesday is my 1st birthday, and I wish from my "parents" a trip to a artificial lake near in the mountains, where I can swim, jump and dig in the mud alongn the shore: so long until they believe their dog has turned into a wild boar :-)
Take care! "Blackbeard"-Bobtail George

Hi Y'all!

What's wrong with Murphy and Annie? I didn't think a retriever existed that couldn't swim! Heck, they're made up of two retrievers, they should be able to out swim you!

Hi Bert! Gosh, I feel like it's been forever since I got to say "hi" to you. That sure does look like a Most Wonderful and Exciting adventure. But are you sure they fell in there by "accident"? I find that a teensy bit suspicious.

Bert, I am so glad our paths have crossed in blogger land. I LOVE YOUR BLOG! And I will look forward to reading the archives and future posts.

I am fascinated by search and rescue dogs and I'm currently reading "Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-And-Rescue Dog." by Susannah Charleson. I was amazed at the training process for SAR dogs.

you really take the most fantastic pictures! i loved this story the first time and i love it even more now. what gorgeous timing! that last pic of the 3 grubby dogs is a wonder!

all this wetness begs the question - who gets the job of cleaning and drying these furry beasts off?

too good! :)

p.s. i suspect Georgia would love to play with Bert, Annie and Murph. just her type - big and rowdy!

I'm laughing, laughing, laughing, about the identical falls by murphy and annie, one week apart.

You need to take another friend there to see if they do exactly the same thing :)

Trigger is certainly a handsome pup, but I think that Murphy and Annie falling in is definitely a 'doodle thing' we both know a Golden would never have that happen!! :-)))

Hi Bert,
Gees, thank you so much for coming back!!
Yes we still have Mexican once in a while at home with way better guilty ingredients.
Tom stared doing the shopping a couple of years ago and then he started doing most of the cooking and I love a man who cooks. My youngest son cooks for a living and has for over 20 years. He loves to cook and so does Tom.
Have a great week-end!!

I'm new to your blog and just wanted to stop in and say how handsome you are, Bert. :) And please don't mentioon it to them, but I had a giggle at your friends Murphy and Annie. Of course, my dogs have never been swimming, so they'd likely flap around "waving flags" too. :)
