Another Bert Update

Bert had a rough night last night, but when I got there I was able to take him out to relieve himself and he perked up just being with me.  It broke my heart to leave him again, but I got to go back this evening.
When I took him outside to go to the bathroom he was exhausted after walking 100 feet to a grassy hill.  He laid down and we both spent half an hour just laying there basking in the sunlight.
It is going to be a bit of a long healing time for my boy, but I am confident that he will get to come home with me tomorrow.  We have changed a bedroom into a private suite for Mr. Bert as he is going to be on cage/bedroom rest for two weeks, then a very slow ride back to his old self.  I know it will be tough for him, no swimming, no running or jumping....but He Will Be Alright.

Thank you all so so much for your support and kind words as we went through these last few days.

NOTE FROM ALLRED to Jed and Abby
And thank you so  much to the  Collies of the Meadow  for the lovely Collie Choice Award.
I found their site a while back and was immediately drawn to this sweet family of collies.  My first search and rescue dog (Andy) looks so much like the boy Trevor and I have been a faithful follower ever since.    It meant so much to us to receive this award.

Thank you again everyone..."Power of the Paw"

Thanks for the update. I hope Bert feels better tomorrow. After Thunder's bloat surgery, he had similar restrictions. It was tough to keep him from wanting to run and swim, but we did it. I can't wait to see the sparkle back in Bert's eyes. One day at a time. :)

Anyway, be back in awhile. I have to read what I missed.

Bert I sure do miss you around the "Club". Just not the same without you. But I know you will get better day by day. Before you know it we will be running and playing and you can resume teaching me the joys of playing in the water. I think I'm ready to go in the deep end.
While I wish this didn't happen I see Vickie is making up a luxurious suit just for you. Maybe we can put up a big poster of your Charlotte on the wall.
I hope I get to see you tomorrow when you get home.
Blessings always,
Goose

It must be so upsetting for both you and Bert to have to leave him in the hospital. Hopefully he will be able to come home with you tomorrow and with your love and care it will be the best place for him to recover! Thank goodness you saw him swallow that ball! It won't be too long until Bert's back to his old self! Wishing you both all our best!

I am relieved he made it through surgery and is on the mend. Guest we are both recuperating now. It is truly harder on our loved ones than ourselves and I'm sure Bert would tell you that if he could.

I am so happy to hear that Bert Will Be Alright. I've had general anaesthesia about 10 times in my life, and I guarantee you that it was a big part of why Bert was so tired today. Our paws will remain crossed for you, visualizing Bert at home in his private suite. I know that you'll dote on him and, before you know it, he'll be back running with his buddy Goose.

We'll be thinking of you.
