Power of the Paw for Bert

Just a quick note from My Vickie:

Bert could sure use some prayers and the Power of the Paw thoughts right now.  We rushed him in for emergency surgery on his stomach.....Yes, my boy ate half a tennis ball.   The doctors don't want to wait to see if it passes because he has had surgery before on his intestines for doing this same little trick with a rock.

I am sure he will be fine, but we sure could use a little help from above.

Thank you so much.

Oh Bert my paws are crossed for you.

My mum knows how quickly we can do these things, as only last night (12 hours ago here in New Zealand) she found me with an old tennis ball in my mouth that I had destroyed (the rubber had got brittle). She only just managed to take it off me before I could eat the pieces.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Sending love and woofsto you and your Vickie,

How did Bert manage to cut a tennis ball in half so he could eat a smaller portion? Inquiring minds want to know.

You're sure that's a tennis ball and not one of Allred's incarnations? Abby accidentally ate one of Allred's incarnations, you will recall, when the curse he tried to throw at her got deflected and startled her into snapping him up. We think it was actually digesting the Allred Horcrux and not the curse that made Abby so sick.

Our paws are crossed tightly for Bert's speedy recovery. Jed also likes to eat unconventional items - especially metals. Are you going to have to wear a Cone, Bert, to protect your stitches?

Pee Ess: Saw a news story tonight [NBC Evening News?] about a female mastiff who ate a cheese wheel WITH A CHEESE KNIFE IN IT. She had to have your same surgery, and she recovered just fine. You do the same - recover just fine, not eat a cheese knife.

such a beautiful boy.but what a daft thing to do. I do hope that you make a full recovery. Chuck of the Collies told me about you..so I shall pray that you will be safe and not eat anymore half tennis balls..they are NOT food!

Curt Rogers said...

See what happens! I take a day off and miss the really important post!

I'm thinking good thoughts for your beautiful boy!

Duncan once ate about 750 feet of yarn and had surgery on his intestines. And right after his surgery the doctor performed a second surgery on a dog who had done the same thing twice in a month. He joked that maybe they should just install a zipper to make access easier.

I hope Bert has learned his lesson and that you're all doing better!

haopee said...

So this was what I missed. Aww Bert, why couldn't you have just eaten something... more digestible.

Well, I hope you get that half-a-ball out. You have all our prayers.

Huggies and Cheese,

Haopee
