And She Did.
But before I show you how much fun they had without me. Here is a little bit of background info on the area where they went today.
The picture above is of My Vickies second search and rescue partner McKenna. The picture was taken during a break time on a search for a missing snowmobiler. Poor McKenna and all the other teams including My Vickie were exhausted after three days of searching.
The search area was way way up in the mountains and the only way to get there quickly was by helicopter.
The weather was so bad that the prospect of flying in the little thing scared My Vickie to death. You see she is not really that brave....in fact, she is pretty nervous about a whole ton of things she had to do in search and rescue. But this day, it was horrible white out conditions and the place the chopper was landing was on the edge of a cliff. When it brought the teams to the drop off point to let them out, only one of the skids actually touched the ground. The helicopter pilot balanced the beast long enough for teams to get out then flew off.
Where we start our hike up to the demonstration site, is where the command post was that day. It isn't scary now for My Vickie, but it is full of tons of memories of that search. When I get to go with her, we start at the parking lot and hike up to a big building where school kids get to go and have a sleep over. They get to ski, and snow shoe and do all kinds of other fun stuff. My favorite part is when we arrive and I walk into this big room with hundreds of kids. All of them excited to see ME. I just go right into the middle of that pile of kids, find me a bunch that know how to "Treat a Guy".....lay down and just let them pet me till their hands cant do it anymore.
Today Tucker and Murphy got the whole group and I stayed home. I am very sad about this.
And like yesterday, they learned how to stay dry and comfy if it rained on them. After seeing Murphy as a model yesterday, we decided that it is now his job every time......
He really knows how to pull it off.
So I leave you today with those facts and photos and a great excitement in my spirit because tomorrow I DO Get to go and do my Hospital Visits. It may not be hiking in the mountains but at least I can get out of this house.........

Too bad you had to miss it. It is really hard for me to leave Koira at home or in the car, but I know I have to do it if I want her to get better.
Search is important work but the hospital visits are important too Bert. You just follow the doctor's orders so you can get healthy when the weather is good again!
I know you missed out on the kids and fun today buddy. But my MOM told me that she gave you extra hugs and loves while she watched your place while our Vickie abandoned you. I know it doesn't make up for not going at least you will get to make some sick people feel better tomorrow. And that my friend is just as important.
Blessings,
Goose
I am one of those who is glad to hear you stayed home and rested today. I think the hospital visits are much less stressful on your healing body. I am sure you will have a great time on tomorrows visit.

Bert, we don't think Your Vickie should do any more fun stuff without you. If you can't go, she should have to stay with you and take a nap. Maybe you could be free sooner!!

Well Bert, I have a confession to make. Your Vickie did a great job with the presentation today, but I could tell she was a little sad because this is one of her favorite places to take you. I missed you too. Tucker is a great guy, but he ain't no Bert! I'm sure it was the best choice to stay at home because there is no way you could have walked up there slowly on a leash. No canine worth his kibble has that much self control. Get well soon, buddy. We all miss you (plus I want to see how silly you look when they put that garbage bag on you!)

Bert, we're so sorry for your relapse. Maybe you shouldn't let Boxers nap on your wound. Did you tear it opened, on the outside or the inside? Or did you eat something bad? We're keeping our paws crossed really tight for you. Is Allred behaving and treating you right?

Bert that is amazing stuff that Miss Vickie did rescuing peeps. I am sad that you still can't go out, but I just know it will be soon, Hang in there my pal.

My great love - I feel better too, when you stay at home! I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you do to much - the only thing which is important now is that you will recover soon! to go to the hospital is very important and I hope it's not so stressful as playing with kids. you will have time enough to do search work with kids again - I'm very sure, but please don't hurry and don't be sad - everybody is missing you. nobody does it better than you and I'm always on your side! Sending you all my love and you are always on my mind! Kisses your Charlotte
Poor Bert! I'm so sad you missed the fun ! I hope you feel better soon!

We know how sad it must have been for you not being able to go yesterday, but it was for the best. And yes, the world may still turn without you, but it will be a much better place once you are fully recovered and back on the road again.

Sorry you had to miss out on all the fun.
Take care, dear Bert. Hardly a chance that I would have gotten into that chopper. And NO CHANCE I would have gotten out of it in that storm.
I am sure everyone missed you Bert. :)
Oh my dogness! We are so sorry you didn't get to go on the trip today, but a zillion thanks for showing us what you would have gotten to do, lucky doggehs. But it is furry clear to us that you have worked very hard up there in those snowy mountains, dropped off by a tiny, scary whirlybird on the edge of a cliff!!! Yikes - you are so brave!
Hugs xoxoxo

Oh Bert. I'm so sorry that you had to stay home but I'm sure that it was good for you. At least you didn't have to look ridiculous in a plastic bag like Murphy!
It sounds like your Vickie had quite an experience on that site before. Oh my, the helicopter dropoff sounds very scary.
I'm glad that you get to do your hospital visits tomorrow. That'll be fun for you.
Bert, you were there in spirit with your Vickie and we know you would have loved to be there. But, your Vickie would have worried about you so its best to rest at home.
You will certainly give the hospital patients lots of lovin tomorrow cause you know EXACTLY how they feel. Take care. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
Bert sorry you didn't get to go this time. You together with Miss Vickie and your friends do an absolutely amazing job!
we think Murphy looks fab as a model demonstrating how to stay dry!

That's great that you're still able to do your hospital visits... at least, you're still getting so much attention and at the same time, you get to help the people you visit.
We hope you well, Bert.
Murphy looks FAB in his chic raincoat.

Hey Bert,
I'm sorry you're feeling blue buddy and I bet with you around normally it really helps your Mum not to be scared…… BUT remember, you did eat the Tennis Ball, so you can't really blame anyone else buddy!! :)
But just think, you'll be back to your normal self again before you know it, I hope you had fun on your other visits :)
Big hugs,
Your pal Snoopy :)
Awww, Bert -- so sorry you missed something you enjoy. I do hope you're feeling much better though! :)
