Our Hearts Are Heavy

Today as Bert and I returned from visiting some patients at the hospital, we were privileged to witness our city and police officers from all over the country as they laid to rest a fallen Officer Jared Francom who was shot and killed one week ago.

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=18829365&title=slain-officer-francom-remembered-as-devoted-father-thousands-attend-funeral

Six officers were shot and two are still in critical condition.  Lives are changed, hearts are broken.  A stunned city lines the streets for miles as thousands of police cars and motorcycles follow the big red fire truck that Carry's him to his final resting place.

Policemen and firemen both really take care of their own, don't they? Looks like he had a very moving service, but what a tragedy that he was killed.

This is so sad. We also live in constant fear because our son is a K-9 police officer up in Michigan. I don't even like to hear about his nights at work.

Police officers give their lives to keep us safe. That is quite a sacrifice!

Hi Y'all,

My Humans have watched as such a sad procession passed them en-route to the cemetery. It is truly amazing to see officers from across the U.S. assemble to honor a fallen officer.

Y'all come back now,

A beautiful and fitting tribute for this officer, but so sad - for his family and friends... for his department. A horrible story.

What a tribute though.

Thanks for reminding all of us to thank and honor all those who sacrifice their lives for us!

MOM once again has tears in her eyes. She sat for a while along the road as the fire truck carrying his body pasted by. For whatever reason it has affected her deeply. I think it's because she hold in such high honor and respect those who serve in such a selfless way.
Thanks for posting. My paws are crossed for those who were wounded, their families, and for Officer Francom's wife and children. Rest in peace brave sir.
Blessings,
Goose

While this country has a lot of ongoing issues, it is with pride that we still stand and honor our fallen soldiers, policemen and firefighters. It would be impossible to live in such a world without the courage of such individuals.

Rest in Peace.

As soon as we heard "ogden" on the news last week we thought of you guys immediately and hoped it wasn't anyone you knew...not that it makes a difference - it is just a tragedy for everyone in your little city.
