Seriously....I am going crazy and My Vickie is getting bored.
This bed rest thing is too much for both of us.
She even started putting foofy things in my hair.
Honestly.....
So this is what I am allowed to do all day long.....
Lay here
Sleep there
Cuddle here
I AM SO BORED.
Please Dr. Eddie
When can I play again?

It's a Miracle....or IS IT!!!!!
At first I thought it was a Dream.
I woke up in the hospital and there sitting next to me was
ALLRED......and he wasn't scratching me, or rippin my nose up.
He was cuddled up next to me, meowing a soothing song about starry nights and warm fluffy clouds.
And guess what....It wasn't a dream.....it was real life....
Seriously....I was wondering if Jed, Abby, Sam and my buddy Tank and all of their efforts to turn Allred to the "Light" might have worked. It is like he is nice and thoughtful and KIND.
Maybe Nellie and her never ending patience.....But whatever it was, I think Allred is different......or maybe he has only got one life left to live and he figures he better change his ways if he wants to stick around.
You tell me. Is it possible? Or is it a Trick......

Just a bunch of pictures
Whew, she let me go outside on my own today. It is a beautiful quiet Sunday and she let me go outside.
My blog is gonna be pretty boring for the next while. MY LIFE is going to be pretty boring. Woe is me....
However, I found out that, while I was lying on my death bed...(ok, maybe that is a little dramatic) While I was lying sick in the hospital for three days, My Vickie was out playing.......
You heard it, Out Playing without ME.
She even went to my favorite park and river walk..../without me...
And Murphy went too......
Now lets talk a bit about my Buddy Murphy. check out the pictures. Is this really a dog?
Or, is it a human in a dog suite. I mean seriously.....check out that posture..
Sometimes, when he moves.....I look at him and I honestly cannot tell you that he is for sure A DOG>
I mean SERIOUSLY
And check this out. This is a picture I found of some of my friends going through my "Tennis Ball" box and taking ALL yes I said ALL of my tennis balls.
All My Balls.
Back home, little Mia came while I was away. How innocent is she?
Really.....How innocent does she look now.
Montana came and she will be with us for two weeks. She is tiny and adgil and guess where she is sitting.
She has climbed up into Allreds Castle. Poor little thing....and I was not there to warn her.
She is fearless.
Oakley came out to play while I was sick too. Oakley Loves Life. He has just lost 11 pounds and he is now full of energy. It is kind a funny to see his human run after him now. Before all she had to do is walk with Oakley and then most of the time she was dragging him to come along. Now, she has to work hard to keep up.....
Ty played with the Frisbee. My Vickie says that when I am better I can play with the Frisbee, but never again with tennis balls. Oh I mess my tennis balls. I just dont' get it. What is wrong with tennis balls.
There goes Tucker.....jumpin over my fence. Another thing I won't be doing for a couple of months. I feel like my world has ended......
Porter is doing the "Frisbee Jump" another thing I wont be doing for months. "OH MAN" Life just isn't fair.
And finally some fun news. Don't get jealous Charlotte my sweet, but I forgot to tell you that Annie is moving in for a few months. don't worry none, though....We are just good friends. Really.
Well, My Vickie says it is time for me to go back into my "Suite" Who is she kidding with that? Although I have to say a special thanks to my buddy James Dean who helped decorate it with the pretty purple tulips and a really comfortable blanket. Check it out.
I am kinda tired now. But all be back. I just wanna really thank everyone for all your comments and Power of the Paw wishes. That is some pretty powerful stuff the POTP.
Love
Bert

No More
I AM HOME! Hey every one.... I am back home, in my house, with my Jamie, and My Vickie and my BED. My nice warm comfy BED.
I am very tired, I am not allowed to do anything but lay around. I can't play, I can't jump up on My Vickie's Bed, I can't bounce with Scrappy....CAN'T Can'T Can't. That is all I hear.
But it is ok, cause I AM HOME...
My Vickie says NO MORE playing in the water with my friends
NO MORE Tennis Balls (EVER)
NO MORE jumping over logs
At least for another 8 weeks. But I will be back and playin in the SPRING.

Another Bert Update
Bert had a rough night last night, but when I got there I was able to take him out to relieve himself and he perked up just being with me. It broke my heart to leave him again, but I got to go back this evening.
When I took him outside to go to the bathroom he was exhausted after walking 100 feet to a grassy hill. He laid down and we both spent half an hour just laying there basking in the sunlight.
It is going to be a bit of a long healing time for my boy, but I am confident that he will get to come home with me tomorrow. We have changed a bedroom into a private suite for Mr. Bert as he is going to be on cage/bedroom rest for two weeks, then a very slow ride back to his old self. I know it will be tough for him, no swimming, no running or jumping....but He Will Be Alright.
Thank you all so so much for your support and kind words as we went through these last few days.
I found their site a while back and was immediately drawn to this sweet family of collies. My first search and rescue dog (Andy) looks so much like the boy Trevor and I have been a faithful follower ever since. It meant so much to us to receive this award.
Thank you again everyone..."Power of the Paw"

Bert Surgery Update
Note From My Vickie:
First let me tell you how amazing all of you are for all your well wishes. I am simply amazed at how many of you have made comments expressing your love and concern.
Thank you all so much.
Now for Bert:
The doctor told me tonight when I left the hospital, that Bert would not be out of the woods for another 72 hours. The surgery was more involved than he had imagined it would be as he had to cut Bert's stomach in three different places to get all the chunks out.
The one that concerned him most was a large piece that was starting to move back up the esophagus. The concern being suffocation. The other two were in two different locations in the stomach.
I am just so great ful that I saw him swallow part of the ball. If I hadn't, it is very likely he would have suffocated within a few hours.
At this time, can I just tell all of you who are going thru your own struggles with your k-9 children...I understand a little bit more today than I did yesterday and my heart hurts for you.
AND Power of the Paw is as much a blessing to the little ill ones as it is for those who love them.
Thank you
Vickie

Power of the Paw for Bert
Just a quick note from My Vickie:
Bert could sure use some prayers and the Power of the Paw thoughts right now. We rushed him in for emergency surgery on his stomach.....Yes, my boy ate half a tennis ball. The doctors don't want to wait to see if it passes because he has had surgery before on his intestines for doing this same little trick with a rock.
I am sure he will be fine, but we sure could use a little help from above.
Thank you so much.
Allred Update
As many of you know, Allred (Devil Cat) has been missing for a week now. I don't know what he is up to, but I am pretty sure it is....No Good.....
I received the following note from Jed and Abby yesterday that helps put a little light on the subject.
Pouncey the Sumo Cat and I caught up with another Allred Horcrux and 'persuaded' him to take a nice boat ride with us. We happened to come across a school of hunting Great White sharks. Did you know they sometimes hunt in packs and coordinate their attacks? They mistook Allred for a really furry baby seal when he 'accidentally' fell into the water. One more Horcrux down, two to go. So don't worry if you don't see Allred for a while, Bert. Or ever again.
Jed, brother of Abby the retired Guardian of Ethics
and
Pouncey the Sumo Cat
Just before Allred broke out of the cell we had him in, James Dean brought him a peace offering, but I don't think it helped Allred much. Me and My Vickie sure love it. It plays a beautiful song and goes around in circles with soothing sparkling lights that float all around.
If you can't read it, it says "I love you from the bottom of my heart. But for you my love has no bottom" Now that was a nice peace offering isn't it.
When Allred first moved in with us he had only one possession. It was a picture he kept in his castle. WE found it yesterday and now we wonder if it explains some of his personality issues.

The Hug Award
The other day I got this very special award from the Sheriff of Blogville the one and only Sarge.
This is what he said about me and it makes me blush and very proud that my Boss should think of me this way.:
To you, BERT, I pass on this award. I feel you deserve this for all of your years of tireless service as a Search and Rescue volunteer. This is a true gift to the world and even in your retirement you continue to give to humans with your therapy work. Man-kind should be grateful to you and I find you to be an inspiration. Thank you for being a good furiend and I bestow The HUG Award to you.

Big Hugs
Blogger had given me a ton of trouble as of late but I think My Vickie finally figured out how to get around the problems. So first let me apologize cause we have not been able to comment or even visit some of our friends in blogville, but we may have it right now.
So I am finally back from being sequestered and it is so good to be home.
We tried to take care of the Allred problem when we got home but he has escaped and we have no idea where he is. But if he were here, I am sure he would want to thank his public for voting him in as Readers Choice and winner of the Bad Sports Category.
I just sure he would.....REALLY
As for me, life has been great. As soon as I got back we got right back into the swing of things. Starting with our visit to the patient in the hospital. And believe it or not......Goose's mom was able to get a picture of both me and My Vickie together as we were getting ready to leave.
This is the fourth time we have tried to do the blog tonight and now we are just frustrated so instead of telling you about the really really cool award we got from Sarge, we are gonna go to bed and try again tomorrow.

Look Out Allred
My judging duties are done. It was an amazing opportunity and I am very proud to have been entrusted with such a huge task.
But it is all over now, all the winners have been announced on Mango Minster and I am back home.
Before we get to the "ALLRED" issue, I wanted to share one of the last pictures of Me and My Charlotte from her visit over Valentines Day.
We did a little photo shopping and check out the cool picture below.
No matter how you look at it....she is pretty pretty pretty. .
Now for Allred....I know he has been a pain while I have been away. Now I can take most of what he dishes out to me personally but the cursing and the transporting and the witching threats to all my blogville friends, especially you Tank Well.....I just had to put an end to it.
And so far, it seems to be working. So party on everyone, don't worry about red lights in the distance or squirrel poop dreams.....your safe now.....(I think)

ONE MORE DAY
Man, My brain is fried. My Vickie and I have been busily working on the finalists for the Best In Show winner and it has been really tough.
Don't get me wrong, I have very much enjoyed reading about and learning more and more about all of the contestants. It is just that there are so so many great winners to choose from, plus I am getting terribly homesick.
Like last night I dreamed: that I was back at the kennel and visiting with some of our younger guests.
Like Mia who is a bundle of fun for a little 4 month old.
Nala, who, (Don't worry, no surgery) who is almost 5 months old and already taller than me.
Mia and our old pal Zoey have a rousting game of bitey face.
And in the dream Me and Jamie played ball with the crew. Doesn't Jamie look good? She is down to having seizures only when we go to the park......So clearly not much tripping to the park for her.
In my dream My Buddy Goose and Pastor MIchelle, My Vickie and I took a walk out to the bird refuge and climbed the tower for a better view. No birds, but there is a tennis ball......
LET ME IN. (I was on the outside of the bird watch tower.)
A final climb and pose on the big log, then I had to leave my buddies and come back to my cabin in the woods above Flathead Lake to continue working on MM 2012 BIS.
